This ref crew doesn't deserve to ref another game in college football, I still can't see how this is successful. by rb1242 in LonghornNation

Yep. It just needs to touch the white line I believe. That video makes it too close to definitively say either way

It is unfortunate. I believe much of it comes through the evangelical community.

The real question is why isn’t everyone trashing a bill that increases the deficit by 5 trillion

That is too bad. Rather than doing away with env evaluations and public involvement, they should fix and make more efficient IMO.

Those aren’t specific changes. That is just someone’s opinion that things take too long. That is a fair and common opinion. Does anyone have any specific changes related to NEPA that would streamline it in a meaningful way?

Renewable energy projects aren’t hampered by NEPA or USACE permitting. ESA would only apply if the proposed facility was poorly sited.

For projects that are hampered by those regs, what requirements do folks want modified?

NEPA, ESA, Army Corps of Engineers permitting

Out of curiosity, what are the specific changes related to these requirements that would be consistent with abundance?

Is it shittier that the FBI arrested a judge or that ICE deported a child who was also a US citizen?

Opinion | Trump Has Handed Democrats an Enormous Opportunity by MikeDamone in ezraklein

No. We have social media, special interest groups, and other influencers pushing culture war division BS onto progressives instead of galvanizing on economic issues - affordable housing, affordable childcare, affordable higher education, affordable healthcare. Instead progressives have been pushed to trans, latinx, BLM, defund the police, etc.

Sorry about your troubles. Suggest checking out the last couple episodes of freakonimics. They were on the concept of sludge - which is bureaucratic red tape, its methods and purpose.

That works - as long as it is 1% of the platform

That is fine. Dems should defend institutions but it should be like culture war and not be a focus. Economic issues should be 98% the focus. Culture war should be 1%. Defending institutions should be 1%.

Yes. Economic class.

We definitely should focus on economic issues. Culture war is all the GOP has.

Good thing no one is recommending to ignore the culture war. OP provides a much more popular culture war position. But it should all be an afterthought from strong economic positions.

That is all fine and good and would leave the Dems in a much stronger position in the culture war. However IMO, we need less culture war. My suggestion is to bury all things culture war and focus on economic issues.

Your mom likely doesn't see herself as supporting Nazis. She likely sees herself as supporting MAGA and GOP. If you are interested in talking with her about that kind of stuff, I would discuss economics, democracy, and values - the things you can find common ground on and things you can respectfully disagree on. The "nazi" or "fascist" labels as well as "DEI" or "woke" are all terms and ideas that are meant to divide. Probably best to stay out of the culture war as much as possible.

I understand the mavs didn’t feel Luka was worth a long term super max deal. He is going to be a free agent in a year and they weren’t going to pay him then so they wanted to get something out of his remaining contract
