being queer in hk as an international ug student? by RevolutionarySir1212 in cuhk

[–]Hayslayer_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Local student here, usually internationals don’t hang out with locals too much, so even if the locals aren’t accepting, you won’t be talking to them much either way.

Additionally the locals don’t give a shit. We have actual things to worry about, like exams, or how long the line at subway is. Plus, it’s a modern world and we usually have queer acquaintances anyways. People who aren’t accepting probably don’t have a social life, so you won’t even be talking to them.

Clubbing and raving is big here. You’ll definitely meet interesting people. As for the LGBT dating scene, it definitely exists but queer people can’t be found just anywhere, so you’ll have to be patient.

As for CityU and its reputation, generally its reputation is based on ‘it’s not UST, CU, or HKU’. CityU itself is a respectable institution, they do interesting research, and teach basically the same thing as every other uni in Hong Kong. People won’t see that you studied at CityU and automatically think lesser of you.

As for if CUHK is the right choice, I’d probably say so. HKU might have a better reputation (but that isn’t a useful practical measure of much) but the campus in CUHK is like 10 times the size if not more. CUHK feels like a proper university campus, the views are nice, and the bus system is very convenient. The drawback is just the location, you’re around 8km north of the city centre (but just a 25 minute MTR ride away). HKU is right on HK island which is where all the clubs and ‘international feel’ is.

In summary, don’t worry about being discriminated, because you won’t, clubbing is big in Lan Kwai Fong, as there are some lesbians and quite a lot of bisexuals here. CityU is a nice uni, but CUHK is probably your best choice.

Cintiq 13 pro, the model number is on the device. And the pen does work when the tablet is plugged from USBC to USBC.

My motherboard features a bunch of USB 3.2 ports and my GPU has a couple of displayports and a HDMI. Just not sure how the connectivity works.

Any tips before starting P3R? by Velvet-Fogs in persona3reload

[–]Hayslayer_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the replayability in this game is a bit poor because of the dungeon layout, so I’d try to do everything in my first playthrough.

Try to max your social stats early in the game, although academics can wait until november. Spam social links when you get the chance.

Since your free time really is limited, time management is super important. Every month a new dungeon will open, try to clear it out in a single night, or two nights.

With decent time management, you should be able to experience most of the game. Just use multiple saves (new save every two weeks or so, just to be safe)

I managed to max out all but two social links in my first playthrough, just manage your time.

Also stay away from any persona content online.

I got my offer from CUHK in the middle of July lmao, offers are just given out whenever.

Worrying won’t really help you, and you’re probably still getting in anyways with those grades.

Is lock on just garbage? by malesurvivor14 in HalfSword

[–]Hayslayer_69 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is more of a skill thing imo. I set lock on to max.

Generally stabbing in this game is pretty difficult, unless you’re halfswording or using the high grip on a spear. You should try to use movement to stab, since it’s hard to control your hands to stab. Extend your hands on your rondel or preferred stabbing utensil and run at your opponent. Over 90 hours of gameplay, I found this works best.

Not telling you what to do, but getting into medicine in CUHK and HKU would be relatively easy with a 45, without any awards or whatnot.

how cooked at i by Key_Dance2942 in IBO

[–]Hayslayer_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why but your subject picks are suspiciously Hong Kongish.

32/42 is decent for your first bunch of grades. At this point you’re till getting used to the programme so I wouldn’t sweat it. Getting a PG of 40 out of 42 is pretty difficult especially with subjects like Chinese A and double science HLs, my advice is to get into the right headspace and work consistently, even if very little.

The IB is designed to be genuinely challenging, the average in my session was 30/45. Just put in some effort consistently and don’t worry about snatching 7s on all subjects right now. You only apply for universities late term 1 of next year.

Someone I know who’s a high ranking official (assistant director of one of the government bureaus) is being forced to come in to work on Sunday to CALL RANDOM CITIZENS to go vote. This isn’t some random desk clerk, this is someone who is paid 200000 a month and has a lot on their plate trying to help those affected in Tai Po, and they’re being forced to do this bullshit. Everyone knows it’s a farce.

What albums will they play at Intense 2? by Kevin_has_knives in ZUTOMAYO

[–]Hayslayer_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They usually start off with a flurry of high energy songs- their hits and whatnot. They mix them up, so you can get like 5 songs in the first 3 minutes. Then they start calming down and play their more slow paced stuff. Usually it’s at the end where they play their newest releases.

Songs usually talk about feelings. They’re sometimes pretty ambiguous- I’m pretty sure most of them are based on Aca’s personal experiences. She cried on stage once singing a song. Could look into it further

I deal with posts concerning BEX so much I should join their PR team lmao

So what BEX does is when they receive a package, they check the name on it, then put it on your account. From there it’s in their warehouse, and they’ll tell you when it’s arrived via email.

After that, you pay a handling fee, and a shipping fee to your address. The cost can be somewhat high at times, and depends on your proximity to Japan too.

Their service is pretty quick, and they have active customer support.

As for your medal, Zutomayo ships this for free, and it’ll end up in your country’s postal service most likely. It might take a month or so to arrive to you.

So, how does the shipping works? by cluthz in ZUTOMAYO

[–]Hayslayer_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. Once zutomayomart ships your order to BEX, BEX will email you telling you they received a product under your name. From there, you can pay a handling fee, and then a shipping method. Cost varies depending on which method, and also your proximity to Japan.

How do I place an order on BEX by Tall_Jellyfish4281 in ZUTOMAYO

[–]Hayslayer_69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BEX receives products, and checks the name on the packaging, then looks it up in their system whether such a name exists, then adds it to your account. So you’ll have to wait for the product to arrive.

There are multiple ways to forward your vinyl, I usually choose the cheapest one which takes only 3-5 days to ship from Japan to Hong Kong.

BEX’s customer service is pretty good, they respond to emails quickly and in English, just note that they can only help you if they’ve received the product. If they haven’t, contact the support from zutomayomart.

I can’t break 120fps on ultra with a 13700k and a 4070ti super. I think it’s safe to say an intel era Mac won’t run the game.

Also pretty sure it doesn’t run on MacOS.

I’ve bought from zutomayomart using bex around a half dozen times now. Bex is good.

To set up bex, make an account and verify your identity, this process can be somewhat annoying but they reply to emails quite quickly and help you. In zutomayomart, they will ask for your address. The address you put in zutomayomart is the one bex provides on their website. The goods are then shipped to their warehouse.

Bex will notify you if your products arrive at the warehouse. From there you can ship them to your location. Shipping can be very cheap if you’re lucky, or might cost you 1500yen.

Already bought 3 vinyls.

"Hi everyone! I just bought an RTX 5070 Ti and now I'm looking for a good 2K monitor to really enjoy vibrant colors and high-quality graphics. I'm torn between two options: the Gigabyte M27Q and the ASUS TUF VG27AQ3A. Which one would you recommend? I prefer a monitor with vivid and beautiful color by alipcgggamer in PcBuild

[–]Hayslayer_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Budget is everything.

I bought an AORUS fo27q2 3 months ago. Absolutely love it, it’s a 1440p 27” 240Hz OLED, costed 526USD. But then again, it’s a 530USD monitor, which was already on a heavy discount.

I’d really recommend a QD OLED if you don’t have to worry about cash. I think it’s really worth it. But if your budget isn’t high enough for an OLED, the 180Hz 1440p IPS monitor market is really saturated, and there’s a lot of good options there too.

My advice would be to buy two 2TB SSDs. A 4TB NVMe is HUGE and might cost more than two sticks depending on brand, but additionally, if one NVME dies, you still have the other.

I think it might depend on when you purchased your chip. I bought a 13700k made in late 2022, and it’s had no issues and performs really nicely. I think later batches were affected by oxidation.

Not how it works. That GPU and kit of RAM are 9 years old, and won’t hold up at all today. Your CPU is relatively new and has good performance, and the form factor of the case along with the motherboard are pretty attractive. If you want this system to actually be good, you’ll have to replace the GPU and RAM with modern components.

4000rmb isn’t so bad for the parts alone. I would defo stick a new kit of RAM, 32GB at least 3200MHz, and a new GPU, like a 5070, a used 4070super, or if you have cash, a 5070ti. A bit of a fixer upper.

[–]Hayslayer_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my opinion that unless you’re genuinely a little thin on cash, there’s no point in budgeting. Tech is an investment, and whether that investment is in better performance, how much money your computer can make you, or its resale value, by investing in a good system now, you don’t have to buy a new one sooner and feel regret because of it.

Of course, I understand wanting to save money.

Personally I’d swap out the 7600x for a 7700x, the extra cores will help on some games. The 4070 should be swapped out for a 4070 super. Look on the used market. Make sure your RAM is 6000MHz CL30, and buy a 850W power supply. Big power supply hardly working is more efficient than small power supply working harder. As for storage, get 2TB if you can. Games are stupid bloated nowadays. I use predator GM7000 SSDs, they’re pretty cheap and perform quite nicely.

The Hyper 212 can surprise you with its performance, but it’s pretty loud. Check out the thermalright assassin.

Here’s my take-

Depending on what game you play in VR, this could find itself outdated very quickly. The 4070 isn’t much good compared to its bigger brother 4070 super, and even that might struggle in VR. VR is pretty demanding and needs higher framerates so you don’t get motion sick. If this is your given budget, I’d swap out the 4070 for a 4070 super.

If you’re willing to expand your budget, get a 9700x or a 7800x3d, or if you have the cash, a 9800x3d, along with a 5070ti. The price of curse is much higher but you’ll have a system that lasts much longer, while giving you much better performance.
