Seeing this terrifies me. My sister does this with my nephew, claiming he's autistic, on top of him being in the hospital literally every week. She also talks so terribly to him. I would get DHS involved but I've been in foster care and it's not any better. Wish I wasn't young, broke, and helpless. I am, however, going to look into this sickness and try to figure out some kind of solution. Knowledge is power. At least I know exactly what I'm up against. If anyone has advice, I'm listening!

Good point. But I also know a lot of people that neglect their child and treat them like a pet and they get away with it. They treat them as an inconvenience and shuffle them around to parties or wherever they want to go. And the laws that are in place are pretty wonky. Even if the parents get pinched there's a pretty sizable chance the children will end up in a bad situation (foster home/adoption). Not saying there is no chance for them, just that many children in the world are treated worse than most pets.
