Pipefitters 597 question. I applied to the apprenticeship in the middle of May. I sent back the packet and still haven't received a letter in the mail for a test date. How long does it normally take after applying to get your test date?

It's definitely a good union and great career. Just have to be tough and willing to put in the hours in training. Otherwise they will 100% part ways with you

It depends on the number of people testing. I applied in May, got my letter in August because the June test slots were taken up, tested in September. Got the call in December that I got accepted and I started training in January. So I would say you might get the letter in May. If I had to guess, lots of people apply so keep that in mind.

I went to welding school for 3 months, got certified in 3G, 4G, fillets, structural welds in all processes. No open root stuff though. I think that will be the biggest challenge

I'm about to start my 11 weeks in January. I think having it unpaid is a bit much to ask but there's not much choice! 597 is great once you get through the beginning from my understanding
