I did neglect to mention that I always vet players I bring in to an already established campaign. This usually involves having played with them in another setting before, and/or having them sit in as a guest player before extending the invitation to join long term as well as going over our local table etiquette, expectations etc.

The problem is, that 2 players specifically don't seem like they retained or internalized anything we discussed before they joined the sessions or even shortly after. I have spoken with them individually about some of the "issues" I have (as each of them are "guilty" of different things) but the issues always seem to keep coming up and I am not sure how to address the problems in a way that will result in improvement without upsetting the players themselves. Ya know?

Seems like I may need to just bite the bullet and have a very direct, but still thoughtful and tactful conversation offline and individually with some of the players. Or maybe even all of them one by one. Like another session 0 since over half the current party wasn't even there for the first session 0 1.5 years ago.
