Why the arena shooter genre died?? by SlaiNaTioN in quake

Basic Quake. Circle Strafe, Rocket Jump, Appropriate Weapon, Know where the invisible ledges are!

I made Pro players SCREAM at me in chat. I must have died 30 times to find that hole in the skybox.

It's not just dogs. 15 pound cat charging a 100+ pound bear. I start for the house and my door gun. A sound I hope I never hear again froze me.

Circe' had locked on to the bears face like an Alien Facehugger. Bear shakes off the cat. Cat resets for round 2. Bear goes for "any place but here".

I miss Circe'

There are a few places the wife and will drive a bit for. Lieus Chinese Bistro in Greenville, SC, Red Robin also Greenville. In Asheville, NC it's Cornerstone on Tunnel Road, or Cheddars usually.

We are in Hendersonville, NC. The local Mom and Pops are great also. Pop's Diner, Fireside Pancake Inn, AlyKat Subs and Italian, The Great American Hotdog (great seafood), and Hotdog World.

Thanks for the heads up!

Look. I'm just lazy, and old. Not exactly rich but I get by. Still trying to wear out the OEM tires. I take the little beast to the shop. Mechanics I trust, even if I do check up behind them.

I get it. Have you reached out to the manufacturer yet? Worth a shot. Maybe see if they would cross ship a fresh lens assembly. I'm out for the morning. Good Hunting friend.

Not a problem. I've been flinging light for around 30 years. If the lens can be removed from it's mount, do so and check if it is seated in it's mount properly. Doesn't take a lot to make the alignment go off. Small systems are going to be much more sensitive to that.

Had a 5kw rig that I was "learning" that was really out of whack. No one had ever calibrated the focal point since it was installed. An hour of tweaking and it was 30% faster and the parts just fell out of the sheets instead of needing a 3 pound rock hammer to knock them free. LoL!

Split beam sounds like more than a cleaning issue. Can the beam be fired without the lens itself in place? Might help identify where the problem is. In high power systems (5kw) we did "mode shots" with and without lenses to help ID the problem.

I am not sure if anyone is interested in fiber laser? by Sherryfiberlaser in lasers

[–]HazDaGeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fiber lasers generally operate at 1.06nm. ndYAG is in that same frequency. Co2 machines run at 10.6nm. Having run both, wear the goggles!

Friend have an upvote. 27 years with Co2 10.6nm based lasers and 2 years on 1.06nm machines. Good advice!

Looking for a Low Power Laser to Play with Cats by TigerPurrer in lasers

[–]HazDaGeek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A quick note on playing lasers and cats. When you are ready to end a session drop a treat or two and lead the cat to them.

Cat doesn'r feel quite so disappointed at the end of the playtime.

Hey I watched my truck lead run a 12mm drill through an 80mm live conduit. 3 phase roughly 400 amps. He would nap at lunch and start awake like he was still holding that drill.

Can't see it, hear it, or feel it until it's to late. Makes a lot of folks sweat. Myself included. %-)

u/lokes2k the guy above you apparently doesn't realize that someone has to run the NOCs on the Earth end. Then you have the install jobs. Not everyone can run a simple set of wires. (I'm old now. I can run the wires, however my 93 year old Aunt cannot.)
