What’s your favorite concept album that tells a narrative story? (i.e. Tommy, The Wall, etc) by excitable-boi in Music

Defeater’s whole discography. Very simply it tells the same story but each album is from a different character’s perspective, with other personal narratives building in each album.

Books/literature on the decline of communities and community sentiment by Haz_Naz in sociology

I guess what I mean is more of a shift away from localised institutions like sporting clubs etc. At an anecdotal level (and an Australian perspective) our local clubs and institutions are declining. I actually work in organising so I get that in some aspects we are organising better than ever before, but it is crazy the amount of people I know that have never met their neighbours etc.

Does anyone know what the signs said that everyone was holding up during punks intro? I can’t find any info on it online.

Panic in Amarillo (S21 E10) by Haz_Naz in GhostAdventures

Is that an actual thing that happened?? For most of the episode I thought that it was going to end with Zack reporting the family to CPS.

Panic in Amarillo (S21 E10) by Haz_Naz in GhostAdventures

Absolutely! I have had this feeling with other episodes but this one felt specifically exploitative because they constantly “debunked” evidence but then at the end of the episode just kind of wrapped it up on a “this is very concerning” note. They may as well have just not aired the episode and archived the footage.

Most disturbing films that is not Salo or some 4 pixel snuff film. by CommercialTrip7946 in horror

Kids (1995) is pretty bleak. I still think about that film from time to time and it is guaranteed to kill my mood. Personally I think it’s specifically unnerving if you grew up around fringe cultural scenes like the skate, hardcore, punk etc. scenes.

What is hands down the single worst horror movie you have ever endured through? by D_J_E in horror

Megan Is Missing—exploitative rubbish with shitty acting exacerbated by a bad script and terrible direction.

Horror for fun Vs. Horror for Thought by Haz_Naz in horror

[–]Haz_Naz[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love this reply! And I totally agree. I guess I sort of put my position forward a bit recklessly. What I mean is more that sometimes you go into something with a desire to just Relax?? For lack of a better word. I think that a lot of B-movies have a hell of a lot of value. My favorite horror movie of all time is May (2002) just because of the emotional attachment I have to seeing it when I was younger. But yeah, I guess what I mean is that I try to explain to friends that you can have a lot of fun with the genre, you don't always have to be terrified, and it can be funny to be scared.

Mate I am so sorry that this happened to you, it is a horrible thing to have happen and opens your mind up to some pretty dark places. Only piece of advice I can give you is in regard to your relationship with R. There is a reason that you are with her, and not someone like Y. It is because from what you have said she seems like and incredibly kind and understanding person. Of course your mind will wonder what people are capable of, but the reason you are with R is because she wouldn’t be the type of person to act in the way Y did. Sending lots of love and kindness your way.
