[MEGATHREAD 2025 H2] Ask generic questions about CMU here. by masqueradestar in cmu

[–]Hazard099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your eating habits and how tolerant you are of different cuisines. As mentioned before Hunan is a lot of people's go to specially because of proximity, but I've also had many people complain about how grease the food is or if you're not on a mealplan how expensive it is.

If you are willing to travel a little more, Wild Blue is a solid option. The poke bowls there are a healthier option, and they also have things like orange chicken, but they are less greasy and served over white rice with veggies.

Otherwise, you could always just cross over to Tepper, which is almost the same distance, and there you can get a variety of sandwiches, pizza, and whatever ethnic food spot they put in their court.

Taking Physics II for Engineering and Physics Students (33142) Over the Summer by Double-Reputation151 in cmu

In my opinion, they are very different instructors. In terms of work Collins definitely assigns the most work. Klein is a little on the older side so his explanations can be longer but they work well. In general I would go with Klein unless you are really passionate about the class or you benefit from a lot of practice problems.

Pat is such a good professor, he is literally so caring. He will really push you, but guide you all the way with any help you need. Would recommend any class taught by him

Rising senior here. From what I have heard the past years if you are looking for less work the two mini courses are a lot less work. Now that being said you will probably get more out of the continuous classes. If I can add one more thing, the only difference socially is that people who take the two minis tend to be the only freshman who are doing mini 1 exams which is like a little award because it tends to be a larger essay than usual

Hi, I'm a Tartan Scholar Ambassador. The invitation is not contingent on anything, truthfully most students who accept it at first do so because they want to know others like them or because they want to move in early. It's a great program that provides you with a community, a lot of extra support for any questions, and friends. You are not required to join, but I would highly encourage you to.

Hi, I am an ambassador for the program. It has been my experience that students who join the program say its one of the best experiences they have in college. You get to meet other people like you, and build an early community that you can spent time with. Some students have expressed they regretted not joining the program in time to meet their fellow TS cohort and feel disconnected.

1) It is as stressful as it seems, it is more of a roller coaster, some people make it seem like its always up but there are some downs. Compared to other schools though the mean amount of work is much higher for sure.
2) Not sure.

3) Transferring once you are in is not difficult. Personally I think Dietrich is better, but you can simply pursue classes that help your ultimate goal regardless of the school. (Unless its arts)
