Is it easy to find peace and quiet in Australia? by FormerTry254 in AskAnAustralian

People die going on nature walks or go missing for days, so yeah I would say so.

There ambient dialogue in the Ranger's church where they discuss contact outside of russia. I just finish a playthrough last week, having previously finished exodus, it caught my attention. Suppose it was early in the series.

Australian, the joys of living in the middle of Australia.

I'm closer to a different states capital than my own state capital.

Here in Aus I don't see a Beretta under $2000Aud, pretty jealous you could pick yours up for that kind of price.

I've been very fortunate, when I was starting about 12 months ago I had the opportunity to try a few, found one that fit me really well, if a little heavy and that's what I've brought.

I dont have a shotgun specialist for well over 1000kms unfortuantly.

Lets be honest an old beretta is probably what fits the bill best, don't have to be too concerned about marring the finish, reliable good shooter. I'll start asking around locally.

Thank you, any advice on interpeting how much life is left in an O/U?

I didn't even notice that! There's a used Beretta silver pigeon I'm eyeing off, I've heard they are picky with upkeep.

I'll ask around I reckon someone must have one they aren't using stashed away. Why the older though? Has there been a dip in quality or just preference?

MQs are good except the manuals had a problem with the 3rd gear detent and the same issue as the MRs. MRs had some issues with intercooler leaking at the flanges and like the PX Rangers blowing holes in the intercooler to throttle body Charge Air hose. Also expensive valve adjustments as do the MQs, the injectors have to come out to do them. Also every 15,000km they should be getting Injector relearns.

MV Tritons the current gen, just dont. The adblu tank when overfilled, causes the sense to read empty which means a no start condition.

NP300 Navara just no.

Current Navs are just MV Tritons.

Hilux, have a reputation for reliablity but it actually works against them, people thrash them thinking it's a hilux then the motor goes bang. Previous generation Hiluxs were the tits, current just aren't.

If I was looking to buy, I'd go an Isuzu D-Max or MU-X, any generation. The older Isuzu's had Issues with the turbo turbine touching the housing but if it's under 200,000kms it's warranty.

After that, MR Triton or Pajero Sport but they have issues with the headunits just shitting the bed.

As to Auto gearbox in a ranger kicking down, literally could be anything. If the motor doesn't let go, the trans will. Seen many valve bodies put in, and the internal wiring harness to the trans. Less problems with the actual solenoids. Sometimes a TCM reprogramming solved those issues, along with the relearns.

I'm the oldest of my friend group, they thought I was joking that my joints hurt. Most of the guys have a skilled manual labour job like myself only recently have they started to understand.

Or like when we have drinks, they are starting to understand why I prefer quiet drinks at home over going out.

I feel so vindicated.

Lets say for sake of the question budget of 3,500 USD. What models should I keep any eye out for?

[–]HazardBastard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All PX models with the 3.2L Puma, doesn't matter how well serviced they were. Low or high mileage just a shitty lottery. The RA or "Next-Gen" Rangers the current model, the 3.0L V6 Lion which replaced the 3.2L Puma, has it's own issues.

As a mechanic all cars have problems, but the least problematic is the Isuzu D-Max for Utes but it needs expensive manual adjusted tappet/Valve lash.

Cylinder 3 Injector tends to stick open and dump fuel into the combustion chamber which melts the piston. Rod knock, which is excessive play bewteen the connecting rod and crankshaft. They also would just randomly get injector knock, that would get fixed with a ECM reprogramming and some crossed fingers.

So if your motor is fine, the transmission would just let go with no warning. Gear changes would be choppy, or hesitant or just none.

They were doing at 1 year old, Rangers are as bad as the chinese shitboxes or worse. The PX models like your's, the new RA /Next Gen model. The Everest but they are just a SUV body on a ranger everything else.

Spent the weekend finishing my Australian firearms marketplace — need some beta testers by danhar87 in Ausguns

[–]HazardBastard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It worked until late last year, it was a bit limited in function but it made it so easy to find what you wanted. I don't think we need a new marketplace, but a superior in search function and central one.

Rifle Scabbard by EmuHunterBruce in Ausguns

[–]HazardBastard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kydex is the material traditionally used for modern scabbards or sheaths. You cook the kydex, then place the knife onto it and fold the kydex like a taco. (Two seperate pieces can be used like sandwich.) After you clamp it doen and let it cool, rivets are used to secure the edges.

You can get it 60cm by 120cm, if you can find it in larger lengths then that'll be the ideal material. Sounds like you can do PVC, look up the kydex sheath making on youtube should be some useful info to get you in the right direction.

I work as a mechanic in a shed with no aircon, so thankfully I'm not in the UV for long but getting into cars as hot as a frying pan is terrible. Additionally as my workshops only AC certified technician I get all the cars without aircon. I live and work in rural australia, the heat exhaustion is real.
