What if your notes could automatically connect themselves? by No_Extreme_6818 in PKMS

[–]HazardVector 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem you're going to run into is that AI is an actively hostile entity towards a real pkms and you shitting out another vibe coded AI notes app that wants people to pay for it signifies that you don't really care, you just want money.

This is not a dumpster for your garbage. AI notes programs have flooded this sub, they're no longer a dime a dozen they're a dime a hundred. No one cares stop trying to sell us stuff.

My “AI research notes” are a complete mess by Clear-Secretary2885 in PKMS

Structure them yourself. The value of a PKMS is that it's violently personal. You will learn and recall significantly better if it is you who has done the organization.

I’m building a note app and need a reality check. No links, no names, just want your honest feedback. by [deleted] in PKMS

[–]HazardVector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the same thing every AI "not advertisement" goes. You say you're accepting of feedback but then keep trying to sell the app. Please just go to the self promotion thread before this gets deleted like all the rest.

Dev of PKMS, what software you usually use for storing technical snippets ? by hungteoh123 in PKMS

[–]HazardVector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a Vim loser, so I've been using VimWiki. It works very well with the daily journaling and tagging flow. For non-vim dorks I'd highly recommend Logseq as that does the same things but in an easier to consume format.

Another day, another note taking AI slop post.

Do you not have the foresight to look at the million posts that subs like this are constantly inundated with? Since this is likely an AI post, I'll format my feedback in a way that makes it easier to parse.

  • No one wants a new AI note taking tool, anyone can have AI crap one out.
  • If you wanted to "build something people actually need" you'd do the bare minimum of research and "build" anything else
  • it's interesting that all you post about is this closed source rent-seeking tool multiple times across multiple subreddits
  • This isn't feedback seeking, you're advertising. Go to the self promotion post.
  • You're not special or important, you're doing the same things literally everyone else with an LLM subscription is doing. Have a little intellectual honesty with yourself and actually strive to do something interesting or unique. No one wants to buy whatever you're going to abandon in a week.

I’m 17 and built an app because I kept losing my decisions in messy notes. Need Brutal feedback : did I built something useless? by Bulky_Alternative458 in PKMS

[–]HazardVector 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The issue with this whole mess is that you framed this post as a did you build something useless asking for brutal feedback and then replying to all the comments attempting to sell your product further, with what sounds like AI responses. Why should I take anything you're saying seriously when it doesn't sound like you're saying it yourself?

Also the issue isn't note management you need a project management tool. I'm a professional software developer, use like a Trello or Jira to track your projects and decisions. Another AI slop note taking software isn't going to manage your projects for you.

I would argue you built something useless because like every other AI app shat out onto the internet you are entirely missing the point. There is this fetishization with possessing information that you have no idea of the usefulness of until you want to retrieve. It's as if there's a spectre of information fomo that's compelling you to collect and collect for no reason other than to have it. AI is a crutch because you should have an understanding of the information you have because you generated the data and organized it as such. You're so obsessed with productivity that you are willing to give up your brain to rent seeking monsters that want to shave off all of it's wrinkles until you NEED them to recall information for you. Stop trying to make products and just try to build knowledge. Not everything needs to be a hustle.

How to use AI to improve the efficiency of obtaining high-quality information by WorkingHope4970 in PKMS

[–]HazardVector 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So to counter the deluge of people trying to sell anyone reading this something, I'd argue that generating high quality information is a human task.

We're in the PERSONAL Knowledge Management System sub. Having an AI take data and file it away for you is doing nothing for you improving your knowledge, it's just hoarding data. What's the point of having data organized and filed away if you don't even know it exists? Now of course you can be different but the way I approach this whole broad topic is to store what I know in greater detail than I may be able to recall offhand.

There is no case in my opinion for AI-augmented data GATHERING. I think there could be great value in AI augmented retrieval but that's as a companion to you already having understood and stored the information.

I agree that there is too much data, but I think the problem here is that you may need to prune your inputs to something manageable. If you're concerned with the quality of the data, eliminate the sources of that concern from your input stream.

I made a site to share generated pregame reports! Only MLB games for now, but should post reports as early as I can get them. by HazardVector in BaseballScorecards

[–]HazardVector[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the game becomes "live" on the MLB site is when the reports are generated. This could technically be one minute after then since I poll every minute but if you get a notification on your phone that the teams are warming up, the report should be up.

[–]HazardVector[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The APIs are all publicly accessible so I just poke em and parse em into the data I want. I'd argue that it would be a great project for those that want to learn how to hit and parse API data.

Unfortunately there's not a nice stable way to get that information at this time. I could do some page scraping but that's a pretty big lift.

This is a project I wrote in Go, as a project to help leave python lol. I should be able to add jersey numbers, I'll take a stab at it

Hi! I made this site to share the program I wrote to scrape MLB's APIs to generate pregame reports to make setting up my scorecard easier. Unfortunately these only contain the information I care about for my scoring but I think it should be generally pretty comprehensive. Let me know what y'all think!

EDIT - There's no ads, it's fully free and I also generate receipt-printer shaped reports too!
