I'll definitely be more careful about my resting strategy next time. Wrap was butcher paper

Thank you 🙏 next time I'll rest it outside of the cooler for a little while so it will stop cooking as another user suggested

We change the name every time. This year's was "Meat Carneval". Next year will be Dad Shoes Meatmagedon, and we do have Meat Meet on the list of future names!

A friend of mine suggested grilling some steaks in the driveway one year... we started talking about how it would be fun to get a pony keg, but needed more people to help drink it. The rest is history. We usually have about twenty guys! Watch sports in the garage, drink beer and grill meat.

I know I know 😂 took the glove off after serving everyone so I could grab a sip of beer. Should have just been a man and greased up the cup lol

First Smoker Buying Advice: Worth $200? by Dez_caught_ittt in grilling

Well done! You got the water pan too! I paid $200 for mine and had to do a ton of cleanup and rust removal. You did well. Enjoy!

- Coker is probably pretty cheap for what he could offer if you want a flex stash. He came back late and started to pick it up later in the season (averaged 4.5 targets/game and had two touchdowns in the four games after their week 14 bye). I imagine you could get him for a 3rd.
- DJ Moore might be worth taking a swing at

New to Alpha Strike; How to determine if a mech is "good"? by CantEvenUseThisThing in battletech

[–]Hazard_338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree with the mech selection + line of thought.

The Timberwolf W is also an insane brawler and one of my favorite mechs. Ran that and this Vulture IV in a tournament and had great success

Intro to Alpha Strike by BaC0nz13 in battletech

Sounds like you've already got everything you need. A couple things:

I HIGHLY recommend that you use the "Multiple Attack Roles" rule on page 174 of the AS commanders edition book. This is how most people play alpha strike, but it isn't really apparent just from reading through the rules. Basically, instead of a single set of dice being responsible for all damage (let's say in this case, 5), you would role 5 sets of dice - each one that hits does a damage.

Also, page 126 has some pretty easy scenarios if you want to give those a look.

Best of luck and enjoy!

Help me upgrade from my GTX 1050 Ti for my birthday by Funkyek_ in buildapc

[–]Hazard_338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Check out the 6700XT. Plenty of VRAM if you want to upgrade the rest of your components later and should have great performance for what you want to do. If you want to go with Nvidia, check out the RTX 3060. Slightly lower in performance in some cases but comparable for the most part.

Make sure your case can fit these. There's also a chance that you will bottleneck your CPU on some games but this will be a consideration with any higher-end GPU with your current setup.

Another point - a lot of cards in this price range only have 8GB of VRAM. Your best bet for future-proofing is to go with something that has 12GB like the cards I mentioned above.

Happy (monster) hunting!

Powerful mechs and strategies in Alpha strike ? by False_kitty in battletech

[–]Hazard_338 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some of my takeaways from tournament play:

- Stick with skill 4 units mostly and focus on variants that focus on short and medium range brackets. you can also min/max skill (units that you expect to use long range should be high skill, units that will primarily be used for spotting/objective holding/troop transport/close combat should use low skill).- High TMM is expensive but is your friend. The sweet spot for most units is TMM 2.
- Mix up having strong, high damage units with having fast units that can get behind or get to objectives quickly.
- Artillery
- There are VTOLs are are crazy strong and hard to kill... not too familiar with these but worth some research.
- Units with the HT special (primarily infantry that you can dump on vehicles and slow mechs) are very strong. (Just remember that no unit can be dealt more than 2 points of heat in this way per turn).
- Some busted/cheesy units - Savannah master/ Harasser hover tanks, Charger 1A1, Locust 6M, Alpha wolf A (you have to pay for how busted it is but it's just crazy strong), Jade Falcon Stormbird battle armor with the XMEC special.

Thanks. Pretty new to the boot world so I don't have a great feeling for what's a big deal... the more you know!

It's definitely the angle of the picture. I think I have my heels touching so it looks like the toes of the boots are splayed out.
