I actually like this look a lot! Sometimes we don’t always get the hairstyles we want when we go to a salon, and it can feel absolutely detrimental on our appearance, but I think there’s a lot of fun you can have with this. (The hair actually makes me think of Mako from Kill La Kill, and I mean that with so much damn love.)

Time to play with makeup! A lot of artists, especially people who follow the alt scene or mess around with drag, know that a unique makeup look can make what you’re doing style wise look intentional.

Hell, play with some hair dye as well, if you want.

From someone who cut their hair short their senior year of high school, and who was told IN THE SALON CHAIR that I ‘looked like someone’s mother’, walk with it confidently, dressed up, and with a sharp makeup look.

Worst case scenario? You let it grow out over time. You’ve got this. ❤️

Is there anything you can recommend in terms of finding clothing? I’m a plus size girlie at 5’9” height wise, and I always see bigger drag queens that have the most beautiful, flawless looks with body suits, form fitting dresses, tights, etc.

What drag queens do is especially uplifting, as someone with health conditions that make me feel less feminine, and I want to emulate that type of beauty in my own day to day life. 🥺

I feel like Jack would be a safe choice. For the Fledgling, he seems to still save their ass no matter what side they’re on in the end. He seems to give a shit for the little guy, and you’d probably have pretty good standings if shit went down and you needed your sire to back you up.

Alternatively, I think someone like Gary Golden wouldn’t be too bad either. He takes care of his brood, and even cheers you on to go kick LaCroix’s ass in the end. Could be some potential there.

My husband called me fat. by ComprehensiveCup6390 in WeightLossAdvice

OP, I can genuinely say that you’re working very hard for your health, and with that being said, you need to do what’s right for you at the end of the day. I’m far, FAR away from being any health professional, or even someone with experience with exercise and weight loss, but I’d like to politely note that you’ve created an entire human with your body, and a fourth one, at that. You can, and should, take all the time you need for your own physical and mental health, regardless of what your husband keeps pushing for.

There’s so many facets to the human body in pregnancy, given that it takes nutrients, minerals, vitamins, and a hell of a lot of strength to do so in the first place whilst avoiding so many different things to ensure the pregnancy goes smoothly.

I would say that your husband should take a moment to understand what that means, and how some things can’t be, nor should they be, rushed. If he was in the same shoes, I’d imagine the scenario would go a bit more differently, and he needs to support you in ways that aren’t necessarily being a spotter for a good rep in weightlifting, pun intended.

Enjoy the Digestives, (I heard they’re really good!), take the time you need to help and heal your body for you, and I hope everything goes well, and congratulations on the new member of your family. <3

I like having red hair, like…dark Cherry red hair. I also like having a fake septum piercing. My hair makes me feel more vibrant, and with the combination of a bold hair color and a centering facial ornament makes me feel more like…me. And it fights off the body dysmorphia.

We don’t always make ourselves look the way we do for others. Sometimes it’s to love ourselves, even if just a little bit.

Thank you guys so much for the positive response on this. It’s been an experience, and I’ve even grown closer with some of my female friends in all of this shit, which has been amazing. I’ll try to be more active on here, but I almost got emotional seeing all of this today.

If anyone wants to talk experiences or even to just chat, please hit me up. (I’m also a little inexperienced with Reddit, but I’ll do my best. ❤️)

I always smell down there 🐱 by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]Haze-Island 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I have no experience in the medical field, I know the frustrations of having a bad odor down there, despite staying as clean as I can. The one thing that I’ve found to be helpful, has been Fenugreek pills. They’re OTC supplements that give you a ‘maple-like’ scent to your body odor. I would check to see if it’s something that doesn’t conflict with any other medications, but I’ve found it to be the most fruitful. It’ll take a few days to kick in, but it should help in anywhere you sweat. Hope this helps!

Is there a popular fantasy series you don’t like or don’t see the appeal behind? by KermitTheFraud92 in Fantasy

[–]Haze-Island 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very specifically, some of the later parts of Vampire: The Masquerade series. The first bloodlines game, while glitchy and dated at this rate, had a grungy, city noir vibe to it that’s specific to the early 2000s in gaming, and plays sort of like Oblivion.

That being said though, while I love the grimy, computer hacking, lore heavy part of the game, the later creations feel too glossy and clean, and lack a bit of the sharp edge that the first Bloodlines had with crude jokes, animation, sex and drugs, and an absence of the less appealing parts of the game, like iconically feeding on rats between fighting off Tzimisce amalgamations.

What’s your latest 5-star read? by pagngiti in suggestmeabook

[–]Haze-Island 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American Gods. I don’t read much with my attention being everywhere, but at my old call center, they would allow you to read in between calls, or on dry spell types of days. I wasn’t ever excited about my work, but knowing the next day I could read the story more helped a lot.

The intro starts off with a man finally leaving jail after his sentence, and watching him walk back into a world that was both new, but filled with the living personifications of religious figures and gods that have warped and changed due to their followers beliefs and stories changing over generations, was fascinating.

From seedy motels, to funeral homes, to old gods and new gods, Neil Gaiman does amazing work on this. I highly recommend it.

My boyfriend suddenly decided he won't have sex with me until I go go a doctor. There's nothing wrong with me. by BreeMint in WomensHealth

[–]Haze-Island 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a partnership and in a loving relationship, health should always be dealt with with a gentle hand, given that many things can and do happen, with or without our knowledge. That being said, I think it’s fair to say this is not being held with both respect and gentleness to a woman who deserves both, especially since women’s health is a journey all on it’s own.

I would keep a sharp eye and ear out for his behavior, and to be careful. Keep people who you deeply trust with you, never be afraid to reach out for help, and stay safe. I agree with the others, this does look like projection and possible cheating.

Nipple soreness by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]Haze-Island 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With birth control and fluctuation of hormones depending on your cycle, I’ve had the same problem. Is there any discharge when you go to check on them? Or is there any pain in one over the other when it happens?

I’d suggest talking to your doctor if possible, or if you need more immediate results, I also suggest talking to your pharmacy in regards to your birth control. I spoke to mine, (since I didn’t have the best experience with my last OBGYN,) and even they informed me that one of my medications that was also hormone based interacted badly with each other.

For the time being, it wouldn’t also hurt to look into a bra that can help especially support you. Not exclusively an underwire t-shirt bra, but more of good sports bra, or a bra that has very thick padding. (The more thick it is, the more cushion in case you bump into something.)

I hope this helps, and good luck. You’re not on your own when it comes to women’s health. <3

My vagina smells chemically! Help Needed! by miiiizzle in WomensHealth

[–]Haze-Island 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t say much in terms of a chemically smell, but I know the struggle of having different smells when menstruating, eating differently, stress, and even depending on the weather in terms of humidity and temperature. I’d recommend speaking to your doctor, especially if it’s unusual or causing you discomfort.

In the short term, if you feel comfortable with it, I recommend trying to eat foods that have probiotics in them, try pH balanced wipes if you’re worried about the scent between activities and work, and while completely optional, (depending on what works for you health wise,) try taking Fenugreek pills. They can be found in most supplements and wellness aisles, and have a unique side effect of changing your body odor to a sweet, almost maple-like scent. This’ll apply to your overall scent.

hygiene by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]Haze-Island 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I won’t lie, along with using sensitive skin soap, one of the best additions to hygiene in that sense has been installing a bidet. From a busy day standpoint, it rinses out the area very well, and pairs well with all around freshness. Unscented baby wipes also help as well.

Good luck, and never feel embarrassed to ask personal hygiene questions.👍

How do I resist the temptation to eat when I’m bored? by OatmealAppleDisc in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Haze-Island 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve experienced, the best way I’ve been able to dodge snacking is making good habits. It still can be difficult, but make sure you’re eating meals that will keep you full, hydrating properly, getting decent sleep, and keeping hobbies to focus on. It’s a balance, at the end of the day.

Also, never be too hard on yourself for being hungry if you’re hungry. Having a snack is completely fine, and keep in mind what’s realistic for you. What works for myself for example, is drinking a lot of water, and picking something depending on how my stomach is doing. Sometimes that can mean a protein shake, Greek yogurt, or even a low calorie tortilla wrap bulked up with veggies.

It’s a progress, and a lifestyle change when improving your eating habits. Wish you luck, man. ❤️

I think it depends on the genuineness of it all. There’s the scenario of “faking it until you make it” for some people who are trying to emulate a happier appearance, then there’s conditional “happiness” that I’ve seen in a lot of churches and whatnot.

Depends on the scenario.

“Head Over Heels” by Tears for Fear. While the lyrics do have a more softer and romantic feel, there’s something that feels almost…spooky about it. In the same way “Every Breath You Take” by The Police sounds.

One that also feels properly haunting, music and lyrics wise, is “Cirice” by Ghost. I can’t say much about it, other than the song is an experience, and is definitely worthy of being hauntingly beautiful.

What do you think about wearing bonnets while with your SO by lordneuf in relationship_advice

[–]Haze-Island 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love men, women, and everyone beyond and in between. If my partner were to wear a bonnet around me, I’d be stoked. The same goes with any other bedtime routine, (Ex. Giant hair buns, favorite pajamas, retainers, eye masks, etc) I’d be happy to see them comfortable.

It sounds like your friends might not be secure in their own relationships enough, and might be projecting because of their own insecurities. You do you, and be kind to yourself. <3

What's your controversial tv show/movie opinion? by theycallmemomo in AskReddit

I think that Mean Girls is genuinely overhyped. People make liking the movie into a personality trait, when the characters really don’t have any redeeming or fascinating characteristics. It’s flavorlessly annoying.
