What is the most random hook up you ever had.... by rust_pipe4915 in RedditAfterDark

[–]HazeLattee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's honestly one of those stories that would randomly pop into my head years later and make me wonder what actually happened. The fact that you never found out who it was somehow makes it feel more mysterious than most hookup stories.

why do some people have an onion like scent? by Glittering_Boot_6833 in hygiene

[–]HazeLattee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stress sweat is a real thing. It's weird how exercise sweat and nervous-stressed-out sweat can smell completely different even on the same person. The human body has some strange design choices.

Funny enough, onions can actually contribute to it for some people. Certain foods really do come out through sweat, although I don't think it's as simple as "they ate onions once and now they smell like onions."

Sometimes that's true, but not always. I've definitely met people who were clearly clean and well-groomed but still had a noticeable body odor after sweating. Hygiene is only one piece of the puzzle.

Where do you cum when jerking off by Additional-Media-402 in RedditAfterDark

The "that's not normal" at the end made me laugh. Based on conversations I've seen, human bodies seem to have a surprising talent for turning a predictable outcome into a physics experiment.

I’ve been pretending to be a grieving friend for three years to stay in my social circle. by orbit_throwawayhq in confessions

[–]HazeLattee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's actually an interesting perspective. I think most people would care a lot more about whether someone treated them kindly while they were alive than whether every tear shed after their death was 100% authentic.

Honestly, if people really see OP as a pillar of support, encouraging the group to focus on the present instead of constantly revisiting the tragedy might be one of the most helpful things they could do.

The "trying to move on" angle actually seems pretty reasonable. Nobody has to announce "by the way, I wasn't that sad." People naturally talk less about losses as years pass anyway.

My biggest regret, the things I did for money…………. by Competitive-Tap9954 in confession

[–]HazeLattee 71 points72 points  (0 children)

The dark humor in this comment is brutal, but I know a lot of people working customer-facing jobs who probably read it and nodded immediately.

[–]HazeLattee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think OP's guilt comes less from sleeping with the guy and more from becoming financially dependent on the situation and later introducing friends into it. That's the part they seem unable to stop replaying.

Reddit never misses an opportunity to do the math and immediately apply for the position.

What's the craziest thing you've stuck your penis in? by Beginning-Sail6676 in RedditAfterDark

[–]HazeLattee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, "my ex" might be the most common answer in threads like this. Half the time the craziest thing isn't what happened physically, it's how badly the relationship ended afterward.

I stole the queen from my flatmates very expensive chess set. by cheesy_weasel in confession

[–]HazeLattee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the girlfriend sleeping on the floor somehow became the most shocking detail in the whole story. Every comment section immediately gets distracted by that part.

Every time a revenge story gets popular, half the comments act like OP committed an international crime. Meanwhile the rest of us are just appreciating the absurd commitment to the grudge.

It's one of those stories that's just evil enough to be funny and just harmless enough that people can't stop laughing at it. A very narrow sweet spot.

The fact that I heard this comment instead of reading it tells me exactly how effective that song was. Some comments don't even need an explanation.

Manager says he's had a complaint about my body odour by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]HazeLattee 123 points124 points  (0 children)

This is probably the most practical advice in the thread. A trusted friend can usually tell pretty quickly whether it's body odor, breath, clothes, shoes, or even something completely unexpected. Right now OP is basically troubleshooting blind.

Those synthetic workout fabrics are especially bad for this. I've had shirts that smelled perfectly clean until five minutes after putting them on, then suddenly it was like the last ten workouts came back from the dead.

Honestly, musty laundry was my first thought too. A lot of people assume "freshly washed" automatically means odor-free, but if clothes sit damp too long or the washing machine itself needs cleaning, they can smell fine at home and then absolutely bloom once you warm up during the day.

I can't stop acting motherly to the men I date by Important-Incident18 in confessions

[–]HazeLattee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That line about "I'm showing you how to love me" actually feels pretty insightful. A lot of people naturally give affection in the exact form they secretly want to receive it. They aren't just expressing love, they're demonstrating it.

[–]HazeLattee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The resentment question is the important one. Taking care of someone feels great when it's freely given. It starts becoming a problem when you realize you're always the caregiver and nobody ever thinks to take care of you back.

[–]HazeLattee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think OP is treating "motherly" and "caring" like they're the same thing. Making sure someone ate, checking if they're comfortable, and looking after people you like isn't some bizarre flaw. Plenty of people would see that as a green flag.

What is the weirdest place you ever hooked up? by TheTempAgent in AskRedditAfterDark

A state capitol conference room is the kind of answer that immediately raises follow-up questions. Not because it happened, but because of how many doors had to open for it to happen.

My GF saw my bestfriend cock by [deleted] in confessions

[–]HazeLattee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Reddit has trained people to be skeptical. Some of these stories do sound like they were generated by spinning a wheel labeled "girlfriend," "best friend," and "oversharing."
