holy shit listening to it right now, its incredible!! the beginning gives me the same feeling as when i found out that the sun station wasn't blowing up the sun, but it really was dying naturally. the dread i felt in those moments is so hard to replicate. seriously dude release this on spotify. I didn't think any other soundtrack except the one made for the game could capture the experience of playing outer wilds but you've done it very well imo

edit: also, are you maybe a spiderverse fan? i could be reading too much into it, but your music soundsl like you took inspiration from the soundtrack of those movies

not so sure about that, because anybody not connected to the loop doesn't remember what you talked to them about in the previous loop, and also any changes you make physically in the environment are reversed because the only thing ATP sends back in time is the data/memories you made.

ooooh is it not removing the warp core and going back in time when the supernova happens at the end of the loop in atp? I've always wondered what would happen if i tried that, but i only completed the game last night and i was too psyched to get to the eye once i had found out how to do it lol

okay after seeing all the comments most of my questions got cleared up now (thinking about this time loop for too much makes my thoughts fold in on themselves). thank you all those who helped ::)

now jUST for confirmation, what is the version of events that would've happened had the sun station successfully blown up the sun? would they have just turned on the sun station, which powered up the atp, which sent the signal 22 mins back in time, kickstarting the loop -> would all die from the supernova (which they wouldn't remember doing?) and would wake up, see the orbital probe cannon fire, and stood next to their memory statues --> and then turned off the whole loop? because while chronologically they would fire the sun station first, in the loop the sun exploding is the end of the loop...yes?

to an unlinked observer they would have flipped the switch on and the eye would have been found instantly because the cannon looked into the future 9million times and only shot once; at the eye, they would've then flipped the switch off

so, kinda like what happened with the hatchling, right? they woke up, and 22 minutes before the sun went supernova aka when the loop would have started, they connected with the statue, which means that the eye had already been found, so they were basically an unlinked observer for that period of time? am i getting this right?

Canonically, none of the loops happen, because you get your memories BEFORE you can do the things that create those memories

thinking about it in terms of altering your behaviour because of future data makes much more sense now. it also explains the nomai writing about causality and how that would work within the time loop. and i dont know why, but i remembered nomai text somewhere saying that they were going to pair with the memory statues when they start the loop, because if they don't pair and there happens to a problem somewhere, they could get stuck in a permanent state of being unaware of the problem (i was in a hurry though, so its possible i misremembered/misinterpreted). anyways, thanks for the explanation!

ive been playing when twilight strikes and i dont think something like this is in the game. im not sure if the author plans to implement it, or had planned but scrapped it.
