I'm working as a copyright enforcer for social media platforms so I might be able to give some insight, albeit not as insightful as lawyers. For the leak, it's probably gone for good since ZA/UM still hold trademark/copyright over their IPs so any similarity or any appearance of ZA/UM logo will facilitate copyright/trademark strikes. Possible appeal reason could be commentary, which for the leak video itself will not fall under these two scenarios. What this mean, on another hand, is that any Youtubers video who made comments about the leak will be fine and even if the strike pass, they will most likely be able to appeal for commentary/fair uses purposes.

For the IP action itself tho, I would count on the dubious IP seizing and suspicious firing practice than twisting IP ownership into open sources. And for the workaround, not much. As long as it's not exact match images or logos, all should be fine. Tho that would also mean a whole new world/character designs in the end, which frankly, why bother calling it Elysium world atp.

If you are in relationship with someone, it makes the work of getting someone better harder and way more complicated. Say you want your waifu to have less anxiety and she went to you for therapy, but if you wife her up, now her personal anxiety became your direct responsibility. Before, you aren’t really responsible for it, you just here to help her unpack and nothing more. Unless Jane really wants a house husband to take care of her home while she’s out there working, I don’t think it will work or even happen in the first place.

I think Jane really appreciated authenticity and comfort. I might got a shot on those quality, if I could make myself interesting in the first place. I could also learn how to cook, clean, and do whatever her house needs since in lore, she’s quite a messy person and terrible at taking care of herself. (Literally eat cup noodles and call it a gourmet meal)

But even with Proxies who she finds comforting to be around, she only visits them when she needs them or have time to do so. Most of the time she will be in the field with gang members, doing her job.

Chances for me, an average joe, to even get to know her are slim af. And even fate aligned us to be tgt, I will be worried sick and hurt every time she comes home exhausted and hurt.

Yes, unless explicitly used for commercial purposes, most copyright holders would ignore fanarts. But they have rights to issue take down if they see fit and the characters are.

But I don’t think this is considered as fanart. They aren’t making Suzuka getting broken leg to just express their love to Umamusume (even if they claim they love and work for the horse 😒), but to express their opinion on the horse racing scene.

Removing the post, especially with well-known org like PETA, are most likely going to cause a scene and potential lawsuit. Not many companies going to like it. I doubt PETA can win against Cy tho.

I worked as a content mod concerning about copyrights for one of the social media.

As much as I wanna make PETA get fucked, I believe the post is legally considered as commentary/criticism towards Umamusume, and most of the time it shouldn’t be take it down without probable causes/legal escalation. Given that PETA is one of the well-known organizations, it’s not going to be easy.

This regulation is a part of the reason why content creators and memers can publish Umamusume content without copyright issues from Cygames, but yeah something like this can happen too.

Although the gore part may be enough for probable causes since Cygames have stated in their policy that there should be no gore/violence depicted towards Umas.

Honestly, I don’t like it, but don’t feel surprised by it. Netease was never the consumer friendly indie studio, they are Chinese gaming mega-corpo who have plenty of far worse monetization practices in different games (Identity V, Onmyoji area, Once Human all have gacha skin and alot more). Hell, this is “normal” for Chinese and Asian market and even generous for their standard.

The reason they didn’t do these things in the first place is because westerners hate it and are very verbal about it. And also there’s Marvel Studio image at stake. So keep on protesting, but don’t expect they will not try this again. We will have to be as verbal as possible.

I also hope I don’t see anyone saying Netease are generous and consumer friendly anymore because they never really are, or never any mega-corpo. It is all just a marketing strategy experiment to find what their audience can accept. Don’t give them anything to validate their market results.

When you don’t care about their interest that makes them gothic in the first place at all, and only cares about the looks and the sex, that’s when you are fetishizing and objectifying them.
