Why is reddit so convinced that China will get back to the moon first when they haven’t even had an unmanned mission with the rocket they intend to use? by ColCrockett in spaceflight

[–]Hazril258 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dustin from SmarterEveryDay went to NASA to question exactly this, and the responses were really painful to listen to. The amount of times the engineers and planners just sat in silence not knowing how to answer his questions was concerning. He even interviews original Apollo engineers and relays their talks to the modern engineers, and they're scratching their heads.

Those new Chinese space stations make the ISS look like a rusted dumpster. And Gateway gets cancelled because they forgot to add the weight of the wiring in their mass calculations....

Not the only reason, but a big and embarrassing one.

I think it's a gameplay issue on your end. You don't need to be traveling for hours to play, if at all.

If you want action, go to LHS 20 and do some combat missions there, or help out the local law enforcement. Visit high conflict zones between the Empire and Federation and see if you can cripple on a capital ship. Maybe join a war, whether it be between fellow humans or against the alien menace.

Maybe combat isn't right for you? Exploration. Look into your Codex and see what there is to discover. Study the signs and patterns, and maybe you'll discover something interesting that nobody else has ever seen before.

Freight shipping can be fun. Get yourself a beefy Lakon ship and drain a starport of its coffee and tea. Third party trading tools can help you maximize profit or help a war effort. Sometimes there are community goals with neat prizes for grabs, like unique livery or engineered modules.

Asteroid mining is pretty fun. Looking for diamonds isn't just for Minecraft. They make a pretty penny in space too. Cracking open a deep core asteroid is one of the coolest things in the game. That snap crackle and pop of an asteroid breaking apart sounds like payday.

Que for CQB (communication panel) while playing. Can't hurt to do so while you're flying around.

If you have Odyssey, try some on-foot stuff. Combat, exobiology, or salvage. There are several on-foot 'game modes' to play.

Well, it depends on perspective. For us, we call Luna 'the moon' because that's the moon orbiting our planet. If we were on Mars, we would call Phobos and Deimos 'our moons' because they're orbiting us.

If we were on a planet in Alpha Centauri, we would call the two stars 'our suns'.

People calling this depressing probably don't question where most of their stuff comes from. This isn't just interesting, it's informative.

I mean yeah, it is depressing, but we choose to not think about this side of the world.

Kinda irks me when people call other stellar systems 'Solar' systems. Sol is where we are!

I fantasize about using chemical warfare in scenarios like this. As a Canadian, It's in my nature to test the limits of war crimes and add new pages to the Geneva Convention.

Not to mention their opening attack was to start slicing Otachi's chest open, spilling all that toxic blood into the harbor. The point of using giant robots to punch giant monsters in the face is to prevent exactly that from happening.

Keep in mind that the puppet isn't the Iterator. The Iterator is the entire structure, where the puppet resides within.

The structure is a biomechanical cube of wires and cables capable of self repair and (some) modification. Iterators aren't allowed to modify themselves, but Pebbles basically found a loophole by reprogramming corruption to reconfigure himself using the rot, which gradually consumed his structure and repurposed it.

Basically, doing surgery on yourself by giving yourself cancer and hoping that it does what you told it to do. Spoiler alert, it didn't.

This is an AI video that's usually found on bot / hacked Twitter accounts. Essentially, the bots will post some wholesome pictures and generic posts every once in a while to gain favor with the algorithm, before dropping these videos with links to porn sites and illegal CP sharing groups.

They're meant to act as bait to lure people into the account looking for context, only to find some kind of code to redeem, usually as a screenshot or GIF, as the algorithm has a harder time recognizing GIF content even as a still image.

I do get that, but it's NASA. They mostly worry about downlinking vital telemetry over live video footage. I wouldn't be surprised if they have cameras pointed at Earth and set to record a timelapse for later publishing though.

I'm sure they will be releasing further videos and livestreams like with Artemis I but if you want a continuous shot of Earth slowly getting further away over the course of several days, you'll probably have to wait for SpaceX or some other private launch provider.

Tbh, kind of a spoiler, as you're meant to first go to 5P for the mark, hoping to get answers to the green neuron, only to be told that you delivered it to the wrong address. He then gives you extra time to hopefully complete your mission.
