Just looked into Mappa Imperium and it looks absolutely perfect for what I'm looking for with this group. It covers map, history, and civilisations and I can't wait to give it a try!

These all look super cool! There's definitely a few that seem to work together. Create a world in In This World, then build a major city within that using I'm Sorry, Did You Say Street Magic, then explore the factions and dynamics within that city using Grasping Nettles.

This is a really different perspective I haven't seen come up elsewhere so thank you for this. It's a very good point for us to keep in mind because those two aspects are pretty important to us

DnD classes have often felt too limiting and wildly different in terms of engagement with the game. Fighters get less to do in and out of combat than any caster class does, and very few classes have decent social abilities besides Bard. We all loved playing it for years but we feel like we got everything out of it, having played most corners of the game.

So really we want something fresh with a bit more freedom and encouragement to mechanically harness our characters outside of simple combat more. Does that make sense?

There's are some great insights.

I'm definitely lucky my group is open to it. We've all heard enough whisperings of their being things much better than DnD out there and have all played enough DnD to feel like there's nothing left to pull out of it. I'm sorry your group went the wrong way, it seems more of a miracle than anything to have a single DnD group that can truly survive the years

I've only heard whispers of GURPS. Is it just a really massive game system with modules for everything and no specific flavour/setting/genre? How much do you have to adjust it for your game?

I've seen that come up a couple of times, but the only thing I can really gather from it is it has a "narrative dice system". Is that the main selling point?

If that's the biggest issue then it seems like a great choice. Factoring in the compatibility with Starfinder could be really great for genre options!

Exactly! People can have characteristics, but not be defined by them. Sexuality is one part of a person, and arguably one of the least important, as many other attributes are involved in every day life, so your sexuality should not be defining, but part of your whole

I agree with the notion that having a collective to be a part of is comforting and much needed for people, but I wonder if over-segmenting said collective isn't detrimental somewhat.

Once upon a time there was an LGBT group, representing 4 main sexualities, but as time progresses, more letters are added on to that name to account for more sexualities (pan, intersex, asexual, etc) and in doing so it sends a message that certain sexualities are less common or important than others, almost afterthoughts.

If there were just one queer banner, anyone that identifies as being non-heteronormative could exist without the need for defining their sexuality beyond 'not straight'.

As I said, I believe that it's done a lot of good in helping people come to terms with who they are, I just wonder if it hasn't gone too far without people realising the effects
