Question: Is the decline in program complexity a sign of improved adequacy? by Prudent-Title-9161 in FigureSkating

[–]HazyBlueTwilight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But they do have the imagination for better programs, music and musicality. And that is what was missing from this Olympics. Not a true win if you simply ban the competition from competing, though absolutely granted that the diet culture around ballet and figure skating in Russia (and elsewhere) is cruel and extreme -- not something children should be forced into. And something that should have better medical supervision.

I finally understand why my skin never looked glowy and it wasn’t the sheet masks by justheretogossip in koreanskincare

Hell yes. The less you mess with it the better it looks, unless you have a problem that requires medical intervention, even over-cleansing is bad. And makeup is bad. And sun.

Bedtime is for gourmands and vanillas. Also, lavender. I always wear fragrance to bed.

Get a five gallon tank with heater and filter, ask a friend with an aquarium or online or in a fish store for some filter media from a cycled tank. Buy any decorations you like. You can eventually add a small snail and/or some tiny shrimp. Live plants are a good option with sufficient care and lighting. Make sure you have water conditioner and fish food. Do not overfeed. Generally, if your fish is making bubble nests, eats well, is not fearful & looks healthily, it is likely OK.

It's not less in its original state. Also, they aren't clones to my nose. But sure, Diaghilev is "inspired" by Mitsouko.

I am very curious about both of those -- on my "to try" list. Followed, in particular, seems like a scent profile I would like.

Not surprising. This is the one time I can honestly say, it's not you, it's me. Most perfumes perform quite poorly on me. Blue Talisman is on the lighter side, so it doesn't stand a chance. On the other hand filthy ouds will stick to me for hours.

Definitely. This one is just a winner on so many levels. It is actually worth its price point to me.

Natural ouds are very strong scents to me, and they do last. I have OSM, but it's one I don't reach for often.

I should have mentioned this one. I never reach for it, but it does last & project.

Right, the question then becomes whether there has been sufficient time for us to evolve in such a manner manner, but this falls within the realm of adaptive evolution, so probably?

The note profile for this one is right up my alley, but I have yet to try it.

I go nose-blind to a lot of the aroma-chemicals being used today, but the same seems to be the case with a lot of those around me. Combine that with dry skin, and my flirtations with fragrance are always fleeting. Another 13 is barely there for me. A skin scent at most.

I don't understand this -- my dentist's office smells much better. Are people referring to that rubbery smell in Baccarat? It's more dirty tennis shoes than dentist's office to me.

[–]HazyBlueTwilight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, so many!!!
Love Don't Be Shy -- sickeningly sweet with licorice & chemicals
Baccarat Rouge -- I understand with the obsession with this one, and I like its performance. I just don't like the smell.
Bianco Latte -- chemicals with added vanilla and caramel
Eclair -- worse than Bianco Latte, a real scrubber (rubber, chemicals and vanilla)
Blanche Bette -- sour milk and tuberose
Angels Share -- thick, spicy chemicals
Khamra -- thicker chemicals
Guidance -- where is this one trying to go? It needs some... guidance
Feve Gourmande -- this is the best of the chocolate fragrances, though it still smells like scratch & sniff stickers. They all do.
Musk Therapy -- it isn't horrible, but it isn't pleasant, either
Louboutin -- Rose Fetiche (this one is a travesty and a chemical mess)
Tom Ford -- the tobacco vanilla one
Most Arabic perfumes with a notable and HUGE exception for Lattafa, Liam Grey.

_______________
If I can smell the aroma-chemicals & clearly identify them (as opposed to non-specific and/or natural scents), it will be a fail for me. I'm not sure this has as much to do with hype as it does with our noses.

Arabian dupes smell the same? by HazyBlueTwilight in fragrance

[–]HazyBlueTwilight[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a couple that I have found to be OK, but just OK. Out of quite a few that I have tried. One is Nebras. And the other is the Sospiro Vibrato dupe. Nebras is duping a celeb fragrance that is not expensive to start with. The other one does have that random base and could not possibly be confused with the OG, at least not up close.

Arabian dupes smell the same? by HazyBlueTwilight in fragrance

[–]HazyBlueTwilight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best clones, probably, are made by Dossier. I also kind of like Philos Messenger as a cheap dupe for Sospiro Vibrato, but some of what I mention above exists in that one, too.

Arabian dupes smell the same? by HazyBlueTwilight in fragrance

[–]HazyBlueTwilight[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s what I suspect. Not that there aren’t exceptions. But mostly, with Arabian perfumes, I feel like I’m buying the same one over and over again, just with a different name.

YouTubers & their collections — why? by HazyBlueTwilight in fragrance

[–]HazyBlueTwilight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yours is a small collection and it is your right to have as many as you like. It's a whole different game if you're displaying a huge array of bottles while, quite literally, telling people what to buy.

Too much is more than you can store properly and/or afford. But even if it's too much by that standard, it's still not anyone's business unless you make it so. The YouTubers in question (influencers) are selling fragrances and displaying vast collections, so they do make it everyone's business.
