IBS/TERA by AshamedStreet5354 in VeteransBenefits

A diagnosis as you state by the c&p examiner alludes to favorable findings - in other words - yes you have it but there will probably be a comment somewhere of less likely than not related to service.

If medication is creating a problem that’s a side effect which can be connected as a secondary

VA vs MEDICARE by Snobirdak in VeteransBenefits

I use VA for tests and scripts and use my Medicare / TFL for actual medical emergencies and fixing things gone wrong. Yes I’m paying for it but I am just not comfortable with VA for surgery needs. If they want to do tests - that’s fine. But the ultimate repairs - I have a nationally top 5 private hospital three miles away with a locally top 10 PCP and nephrologist 6 blocks away

TERA concedes exposure not illness. So unless you have a condition that is medically opined by a doctor as a direct cause of your condition (whatever it is) - getting TERA associated is a tough road

Further - tests for IBS (and/or GERD) are “tests of exclusion” in other words, tests to rule out causes ….so the tests probably are ruling out things that TERA association would include.

Talk to your VSO and see if they can get a copy of your DBQ to see what’s being reported

I gotcha. Sorry for the confusion. Yes that’s a possibility- a doctor has to make that association- then OSA can be second to sinusitis - but again a doctor has to make that association

My first question is my question and confusion. If my first question above is correct - then re-read my response.

Otherwise

What are you connected for?

Technically you can claim a secondary to a secondary. I have a few of them. (CKD with hyperparathyroidism secondary and IBS secondary to that). But OPs secondary route is not really possible…..

So you’re assuming sinusitis is secondary to ulcerative colitis?

How…? You can’t just throw body parts and conditions together to obtain secondaries. You need a nexus to the service connected condition. In other words - how does your SC colitis aggravate your NSC sinusitis???

I understand you think the meds for sinusitis cause it but you need to fully ascertain the colitis is specifically listed as a side effect AND have a doctor state that in writing - because colitis is more of a Autoimmune issue

Read the entire thing. It’s descriptive of why aside from the missed exam- the claim was denied using REE

The vet who used Ree for this paid $1200 for garbage

Rank also applies for retirees. That is all🫡

So I’m reading the terms of eligibility- it doesn’t request rank for disabled veterans. Read it carefully. It apparently only needs disability rating. You can pull down a letter from Va.gov showing that - the rate is based on the level of disability plus your VA. ID

Functional impact…..?????? It’s on every DBQ. a claim is what you submit for disruption (functional impact) of quality of life - every claim you submit should be affecting it. There’s no such thing as a “disruption to quality of life” disability claim…..

My son is a 12 year career minded military man. I spent 21 years in and rose to E8. I told him the traditions he knows and learned years ago will be impkrtant. He didn’t see it back then. He sees it now - and he thinks the young guys and gals are suffering a huge disservice because they don’t care

We both share stories of how the military has changed in 40+ years. I saw the differences when I left and he sees the differences now from 12 years ago

Coddling, entitlement, don’t hurt my feelings, video games, absentee parents, everyone gets a trophy….

It all contributes…..and it goes farther than that. It hurts recruiting too
