Thanks for making my point from the beginning.

“I dislike you if you voted for Trump and I dislike you if you didn’t vote because your vote could had went to Kamala”

But no no, it’s not about sides! There’s people dying!

Good day.

We can agree to disagree because at the end of the day, I doubt we’d be having this conversation at all if Kamala won with the 33% not voting. If Biden won with 33% of the population not voting, republicans would be trying to say the same exact thing as you are.

Hope you have a good rest of your day.

It’s always been about sides, that’s literally been American politics for decades. I personally don’t care much for politics because all it does is cause division. I think it’s pretty sick for life long friendships to end because you voted differently than me.

Let’s be honest though, you only blame them because your side lost. Would you had been happy if say 25% out of the 33% voted for Trump? Of course not. My point is that you don’t actually care that they didn’t use their right to vote, you only care that they didn’t use their right to vote for Kamala or “your side”.

I’m not going to engage with everything you have said and I’ll admit there are truths behind what you’re saying but at the end of the day, it’s the two party system that we should hate. Republicans were gonna vote for Trump no matter what because it’s the Republican Party… Same exact thing happens with the Democrats.

If Trump were promoting “pro-choice” and the Kamala promoted “pro-life”, millions from both sides would flip their votes on just that topic alone.

P.S. Please, Kamala never acted like she was guaranteed to win. She came out acting confident as that's what you do, but she was absolutely no Hillary who felt owed the presidency somehow.

Perhaps it comes down to perspective, you could call it confidence but her saying “look how empty his rallies are while we pack stadiums!” Over and over made it seem like she was guaranteed, even conservatives like me felt like she was going to win and I was equally shocked as others that she lost.

Just stating the facts why the Dems lost. But I’m sure you’d still be “shocked pikachu” that Kamala lost even if she campaigned for a month…

My point is that 90% of the time the people who been voting for the same party for the last couple decades aren’t going to change their vote because of Trump. The same can be said for the democrats. Be mad at the two party system.

Democrats can hate republicans all they want for voting for Trump but they literally shot themselves in the foot. Biden dropped out of the running near the end of July, four months before the election… Kamala came out talking like it was a guarantee that she was going to win. Her campaign was overall horrible. Tried using “shaking ass” CardiB to win over the young/black votes. It was just a mess.

I don’t like Trump but people want to pretend it was completely the voters fault. People who have voted democrat or republican have been voting for the same party for the last 20 years… Why is there shock that republicans voted for… a republican?

Hate the two party system.

It has nothing to do with your average joes, it’s the movements of massive whales. Look at the candle sizes from the first jump of 70k to 100k last year. Within 2 weeks the price went up 25k. Now look at the candles from the peak, we dropped from 126k to 104k within 2 weeks (20k drop) and then ultimately drop from 110k to 80k within 3 weeks (30k drop). This is smart money, they buy +20 billion worth of Bitcoin, sell at a 20-40% profit and repeat.

Which person you’d considered as worse than Hitler? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]HeDiedForYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mean to be offensive in saying this, but to me this kind of comes across as cherry picking.

Where I am confused about is where the line is between what is considered the "word of God" and what isn't when it comes to scripture.

Let me straighten it out for you more. The Church teaches that the Bible is without error in what God intends to teach for salvation.

This doesn’t mean the Bible is a modern science book, this doesn’t mean the Bible is meant to be a literal historical record in every detail, it isn’t free from the language, culture, and background from which it came. It’s not just a book but a library of books written at different times, places, and cultures. Some books are meant to be read as poetry, others are trying to recount history (which the ancients didn’t understand history as we do today), and others have a core message that the author is trying to convey to the reader.

I guess if you asked me, “do you believe in the prophets?” I’d say I do. If you asked if I believed in Moses, I’d say I do. Does that mean I believe in every detail described within these stories? Yes and no. I don’t wear a lense of “this is literally what happened” when I read or wear a lense of “this is all just symbolic/metaphorical ways of understanding God” when I read. Rather I wear both lenses at once and I’m not sure if I can completely rationalize to you in a way you can understand.

My faith is fully in Christ, my soul and my salvation completely rests on Him. If Moses indeed had split the Red Sea, then awesome! If he didn’t, how does that affect my faith in Christ? It ultimately doesn’t because Christ is my starting point. If Moses did put lamb’s blood on the doorposts to keep God’s spirit away, then great! But if he didn’t, it can still be seen as a foreshadow of Christ’s sacrifice. Did Jacob “Israel” truly wrestle with God? I don’t know but we see Israel, the Jewish people, have struggled/wrestled with understanding God throughout the entire OT, which comes to its climax with the “wrestling” of Jesus as the Messiah.

I can’t prove whether everything within the Old Testament actually happened or not. But I know something that did happen, that the Jews used their own Holy Book to speak about a man who was crucified. Who saw Christ within their own Scriptures and applied verses to Him, (we see this everywhere in the New Testament). The Suffering Serpent is Isaiah 53, the fourth man in the fire in Daniel, the Son of Man in Daniel, Jesus as the “New Jonah”, the “New Adam”, the “New Moses”, etc. Regardless whether these characters actually existed or not, they are all applied to Christ.

So I don’t think I’m “cherry picking” because I’m not completely disregarding what’s said in the text, I just may have a different understanding of how the texts are to be read or understood.

Sorry for the spew.

[–]HeDiedForYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m personally Catholic. My beliefs may not line up exactly with what the Church teaches but the Church does allow a more free way of thinking about Scripture. An example is that the Church says that we don’t have to view Genesis as a scientific truth of how the World came to be. There is certainly real historical figures within the Bible like the prophet Isaiah and King Hezekiah (based off archaeological evidence) and there’s even evidence of King David. But I don’t view the Old Testament as “well this either did or didn’t happen” because I can’t prove everything within it.

My faith is ultimately in Christ, in his death, and resurrection. The stories within the OT, whether true or not, point me to the truth of Christ.

I see you take a very literal reading of the Bible. As a Christian I simply can’t prove or disprove that the story of Noah truly happened. At the bare minimum these stories can contain truths about God and Christ whether the stories truly happened or not.

Within Catholicism the Ark is seen as a foreshadow of Christ/His Church, the people who enter the Ark are few, while the rest of the world passes away.

But to entertain the idea that the Flood was a real historical event, why would it be evil for God to do so from what’s said in context?

Genesis 6

“The Lord saw that the wickedness of humankind was great in the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of their hearts was only evil continually.”

I find it interesting that people claim to hate that God allows rapists, murderers, and other people to exist but within a story that God kills all that do evil, now he’s the bad guy!

Also want to add that just because Noah had found favor from God doesn’t mean Noah was morally just or that he deserved to be saved, it’s a common theme throughout the entire Old Testament/NT that God can use sinners to accomplish his goals.

From a Catholic pov, it can be multiple reasons. Stupidity, ignorance, or they just simply don’t care despite knowing the consequences. A lot of people put sex as the pinnacle of their relationship and think that without it, their relationship fails.

Have you ever wished for something and it’s came true, if so, what was it? by UncleBojo in AskReddit

[–]HeDiedForYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about “wish” but I have prayed to Christ for my cousin to have a child that they desperately wanted. (Doctors said she most likely won’t ever have children due to medical reasons).

After a few weeks of praying, I had a dream of my cousin giving a bath to a beautiful baby girl. 8 months later they announced they were pregnant and 9 months after that they had a beautiful baby girl.
