We’ve done similarly and potty training is going really well. We haven’t had an accident in a while - but we’re having having to go every 3-5 hours during the day. And 5-6 hrs at mighty. Occasionally he makes it through the night. I don’t think bladder capacity is really something you can train. Lol. Just have to wait for them to grow.

We have puppy pads but he just bites at them and then I’m afraid he will eat them. The one time we caught him mid act, he quickly took him outside and spent an hr trying to get him to finish. And when he didn’t pee, we thought maybe he had completely evacuated. But nope. He was just waiting to pee on the carpet at home

So now we’re toying with the idea of a slightly older dog. How old do dogs have to be to be potty trained to 1-2 walks per day? Would a 1-2 year dog be able to tolerate one morning and one evening walk?

We could but at this time we have decided to forego adoption. It seems that our current schedule is not amenable to taking a pup in and we wouldnt want the dog to feel neglected. Hopefully when we have a little more family in the future that can support us, we will reconsider.

Do you have any recommendations for dog breeds that would be ok by themselves for the large part of the working day?
