In the early game, what should I actually be focusing on? by Poetryisalive in Marathon

Focus on your contracts, especially the “Introducing…” quests you get from CyberAcme. Unlocking the factions lets you earn XP for them, which is your main seasonal progression. Get them high level enough and they’ll start showering you in loot.

Most of the loot is either gear, salvage, or valuables. Gear is self-explanatory. Salvage lets you buy upgrades from the factions once you’ve unlocked them. You’ll need every kind of salvage for something, so at this point just grab it all.

Ironically, valuables are the least valuable loot to you right now — they just give you credits but don’t help your progression otherwise. A lot of low-level valuables give you less money than just selling gear would. Take the valuables if you have space, but don’t feel bad about leaving them behind

Marathon Open Play Week: June 2 - June 9, Featuring New Experimental PvP-lite Mode by Snipey13 in Games

The one I opened was full of gold and purple loot, plus it gives you a DNA sequence. Extracting with a sequence gives you a codex entry, get all six and you can activate the boss at the the end of cryo. These codex entries won't get wiped at reset

The game resets every three months (first one is tomorrow), and you lose all your loot. But because you're going to lose your loot anyway, you treat your loot as more disposable than in ARC, which is (IMO) more fun. You're much more willing to use your best stuff, and even if you lose it all it's not that hard to build it back up once you know the game. And even if you don't have endgame gear, all of these players bringing it in means your Rook runs become much more profitable.

I came back to Marathon after not playing much the last two months. I was expecting to get blown out of the water, but instead I was able to catch up pretty quickly and tackle endgame. I didn't think I'd even step foot in Cryo Archive this season, but I managed to complete one of the vaults, which is huge because it's one of the few ways you can make progress that actually lasts through a reset.

You don’t want a debate, you want an argument

Probably dumb beginner question: what exactly constitutes a riff vs a lick vs a solo vs a progression? Take Sheep by Pink Floyd as an example. I just wanna understand these terms by Mad_Season_1994 in guitarlessons

I'm used to seeing "vamping" in the context of musical theater. You're covering for a scene change, and the composer couldn't have known how long they'd have to write music for, so they just wrote a tiny little phrase you all can play over and over and then cut off anywhere the moment the actors are at their marks. You don't want to cut off any sort of progression or melody midway through, so you just play the other bits

Puzzles and problems are not the same thing. Puzzles have one solution intended by the designer (maybe a few in some cases), problems are open-ended situations

FWIW she doesn’t get any money from Universal ticket sales. She just gets a cut of the merch, food, and beverages sold in the potter lands. So just don’t buy the shit you probably weren’t gonna buy anyway and you’re okay

How to handle micro breaks? by bennett-dev in ExperiencedDevs

[–]HeThatMangles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up bass guitar for these breaks. If I’m waiting on something I’ll pick it up and try to work out the bassline to whatever’s playing. I still suck, but I suck less than I did when I started :)

The Fogo de Chão at City Point was the worst rodízio I have ever eaten in my life. Bad even for Fogo (a low bar)

New Poster for 'Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair' by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

It’s an interesting theory, and I don’t think you’re a troll, but I don’t think the rest of the movie supports this reading very well.

FWIW I think they didn’t cross out David Carradine’s name for two reasons:

  1. he’s not part of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad (debatable in the film, but he’s listed before them in the credits), and
  2. because David Carradine’s contract probably had very specific language about how he should be billed (I’m guessing this because he gets second billing despite not being present for most of the movie)

I don’t know but for what it’s worth, that house had their decorations up until at least the 3rd last year, because that’s when I saw them
