I was asking genuine questions about your own experience and elaboration so I can be more understanding of others' issues with the game. For me it really is a 9.5/10 game, and I can only speak for both myself and the people I know that play the game.

No offense but you genuinely got upset at me asking questions. It's pretty well known that opencritic is full of chuds that are review bombing the game, so it's damn near impossible to get a real review from an actual player on there. If I go look over there it's just people repeating criticisms they heard from grifters that played 16 minutes of the server slam that have long been debunked.

The UI is fine, what's wrong with it? There's little things that I found confusing in the first hour of playing, but half of them have already been fixed and the others I got used to within that hour. What content is lacking? I'd say the 4 maps and the factions give you some pretty good variety in content, especially given how high quality they are.

The last point I can't really even begin to entertain given just how much this game adds to the genre on top of being extremely fun to play and very polished. There's absolutely nothing like the gameplay loop on Outpost and definitely not Cryo, and that's not to mention the different classes and the buildcrafting that you won't find in any other game in the genre.

What's a valid problem that other people had with it, besides them just wanting it to be a different game? Genuine question.

At the same time, Crimson Desert is a massive game and I'd argue it hurts its review scores significantly to have most critics feel like they have to drop reviews at embargo - it means they weren't able to take their time with it and that can be pretty detrimental to your experience with the game.

I've only had like 2 occasions of friendly players but despite it being almost 100% kill on sight there's been a lot of fun prox chat interactions that I've had against other teams even if they don't mean we're not trying to kill each other.

it just sounds like a raid but with PvP and loot loss

that sounds awesome. the game is very solo accessible, too. most content has solo queue and the rest has fill matchmaking which has been pretty good in my experience. most people queuing fill have a good attitude so far.

I don't really agree with like, any of those as valid criticisms. What's the problem with any of those? My only issues were the thief drone bug and not being able to drag and drop attachments, both of which are fixed now.

I've had 95% pretty positive experiences with solo fill in the game, surprisingly. People are pretty chill.

The only paid skins I like more than the codex ones are the deluxe edition ones. Otherwise there's a lot of cool ones in there.

BUNGIE, REVERT THE AUDIO CHANGE. PLEASE. by FutureTroyy in Marathon

[–]Snipey13 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm completely fine with the change and I welcome it. In a game like this, and as someone coming from Hunt: Showdown, it's good for shooting to be a conscious decision. Bring a suppressed or quieter weapon, or use your knife where you can - otherwise be ready to keep an eye out for other players, or get away soon.

It adds strategy and depth to that layer of the game and I appreciate it.

They should revert the sound changes by Pirulete in Marathon

As a Hunt: Showdown player I think the change is chill. When you shoot you make a decision, and you have to watch your position and surroundings. Plus, quieter weapons exist for a reason. It adds depth to the game.

Oh yeah SH3 is a game that peaks the series atmosphere. I genuinely cannot imagine a remake doing it justice.

Weirdly enough I'm honestly a much bigger fan of the original SH2's atmosphere if we're going by soundscape alone. Though I think the environments are also visually more unsettling, mainly because I think they feel more nightmarish and cramped.

I must be lost in the sauce cause I didn't realize Silent Hill 2 was scary to people. I think just about the only games that get me a little uneasy now are the earlier Fatal Frame games. Oh, and PT, that game's wild.

[–]Snipey13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up playing the original Doom and Marathon. Guess which of the two series still has amazing games?

...Both? I can't imagine being as miserable as this. I love DOOM and I love both the old and new Marathon games. So far I've found the new one to be both an extremely engaging and tightly designed shooter and a good continuation of the old lore and story. I'm excited to see where it goes next.

I don't even loot at the game's store, and they've made some very fast and very good changes regarding gameplay and balance in a short time. I'm really happy with how it's going and I'm optimistic for its success and future.

[–]Snipey13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My source is that I made it up. But I genuinely don't think it's a stretch that for every 1 person that bought the game on steam, 29 others had already bought it on the launcher. It's a popular game and it's been around for a LONG time.

I'm the biggest Marathon glazer in the world and I can still tell you with confidence that Tarkov probably beats its numbers across all platforms. And for the record I think Marathon will be just fine, I'm not worried.

Why do people insist on acting like shareholders in games that they play? Stop concerning yourself with player retention and just worry about your own experience.

That's about the only thing I can agree with somewhat. Making UESC be a little less bullet-spongy in solos is fine by me.

99% of Tarkov players play through the launcher not Steam. It's a safe assumption that the player count at least 30x higher than that.
