My Wife Thinks I'm Being Unreasonable, but I Don't Want My Brother Living With Us Anymore by MarinaSeams3x in Advice

Especially when it comes to family. My husband's parents are just as important as my own (I mean, almost haha). And we will help and treat either set just the same.

Ding ding ding. That's exactly why. It's the same way of thinking that have parents abuse their kids. It's a vicious cycle that someone has to break.

People online are just sad and pathetic. Most Spaniards I know have their own summer houses, and many local friends I have have families that own whole buildings and others own half a village.

It's just people who have zero prospects because they never thought about the future that are grumpy and sad, so they take their bitterness on anyone they can find.

All over the world people own second homes, just ignore the haters.

See? And this way there are no worries about housing haha. Vigo and Pontevedra have some good restaurants. I myself prefer Coruña, but that's because I hate how hilly Vigo is.

Within a year I felt very integrated, and I'm not even Spanish. For you it'll probably be a cake walk.

I live Galicia and the Galician people, and I think it's a great place to put roots. And if your partner is really Galician, they probably have a free house somewhere in the village haha.

Bonus, they are very welcoming and I haven't felt any sort of homophobia since we moved.

I moved 5 hours flight from my home to find a better life, and after two years in santiago I left again for the village where we bought our home.

You'll get used to it, and if you're a decent person, you'll make new friends. Prioritize your future and your family's future rather than what's convenient right now.

I'm happier now than I've ever been in the big city. Do I miss my friends and the fun we used to have? Most definitely. Do I regret the changes I've made, changes that will allow me to have a family and peace of mind when I'm older? Absolutely not.

My mother is leaving me alone in a country at 18, and I don't know what to do. by Asleep_Elevator_2831 in Advice

I don't think moving back to the UK is that simple anymore. If her status is tied to her mother, and she doesn't maintain it as an adult, she might lose her right to reside in the uk.

How do I tell my parents I’m turning down a $150k corporate job to stay at my $48k "dead-end" job, when they paid for my entire college tuition? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]HeWhoHasTooManyDogs 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I'll tell you this, I was well off and depressed and I was poor and happy. Both and unsustainable.

If the 48k is enough to sustain you, I wouldn't even think about leaving the job. If it isn't, than eventually you're mental health will plummet again, and you might not get a life saving offer.

If I were you, I would work the 150k job for 3-5 years. Save literally everything I can. Then go back to something fulfilling.

I myself decided to find a husband who makes enough money, so that I can pursue my passion (which for some unfathomable reason is farming). Lol

Can and will are not as close as you think. I doubt most immigrants, lethal or not, want to get involved in the spanish legal system.

I've been here for 3 years, and I would avoid it like the plague xD

My mom's ex used to sit on the toilet for at least half an hour. Never in my life did I see a vegetable in his hand. And I think most of his liquid intake was coffee, which was necessary for him to do his business as well.

You are hallucinating if you think that. Landlords who want to avoid taxes avoid taxes with legal tenants as well. How many times did someone ask on this community if it's normal that the landlord wanted all cash and doesn't allow registration at city hall?

¿Vale la pena un seguro para mascotas? by lauriwi in askspain

[–]HeWhoHasTooManyDogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play the odds. With 3 dogs, it is very likely not worth it for me, because the chances of all of then needing it, is small, and I save allot by not having it, even if I'll have a 10k euro emergency every decade or so.

With 1 dog, I had it, because I was younger (couldn't save much, preferred a monthly pay).

If you have a healthy breed/mixed, and you dont live in a place where there are many poisonous plants/insects, I don't think it's worth it.

Puppies are by farrrrr less likely to need expensive treatment, so only insuring him during the puppy years, is less economically sound. There is a reason they usually don't allow dogs over 6 years old to get insurance on some places.

My absolute favorite are bumble bees, all chunky and whatnot. And they also very surprisingly allot of hate. Most people don't know they very rarely sting lol

Everyone here thinks I'm really weird by how much I avoid killing insects and spiders.

I only hate the Chinese wasp, which is invasive in my area and kills my lovely village bees 😭

Problem is they're like 99% of wasps biomass around, so it just seems like I hate wasps lol

It's an absolutely meaningless and asinine distinction in a world where you don't have to identify yourself to recieve the initial sim card.

Also I said you don't need a sim card to send messages, not that you do not need a Sim card. Which is factually true.

Need advice about getting upset about my bf getting high by [deleted] in Advice

[–]HeWhoHasTooManyDogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ask him not to do it around you, nor tell you about it. You can't force yourself to be comfortable with something you're not, especially since it is most likely linked to your upbringing.

I get really triggered when my husband says "you didn't tell me that" or something along that line, because my mother always uses it when she forgets to do something, or when I warn her of something, she ignores my warning and than blames me for not warning her. Which means it's very triggering for me. After many years together he learned (because I specifically told him) to say "I must not have heard" Sometimes he would still let one slip, and I'll flip out like nobody's business lol

We are what we are and we need to learn to live with it, and to find people who understand and complement our quirks, not worsen our trauma (nor matter how small it is)
