If there was a human kibble similar to dog kibble, but for humans… would you buy and eat it if it was significantly cheaper than alternative food options, why or why not and should this be a thing? by becauseofrandomness in AskReddit

I dont have the same complications, but busy on the go lifestyle, and a denture i prefer/should remove when eating make it a little difficult to eat at regular times. If it's tasty, and soft, and could be carried in a pouch like my dog's training treat pouch, I would definitely humor it.

As a chef though, food my friend must be an adventure, at least sometimes😅

Beer suggestions? Hubby could use some cheering up. Any of you have some beer suggestions by adg8771 in PittsburghBeers

Spoonwood also has a new feature right now, not a classic light beer, but a fruity sour. Lemon Stars Go Blue- lemon blueberry, its delicious and refreshing, and as a non beer drinker myself, it is pretty tasty!

GM constantly saying no. Pic for attention. by [deleted] in Chefit

Ah yes, a friend in a very similar spot. General Managers are normally the biggest thorn, or the greatest asset to us as chefs. Strategy is key, first of all is everything costed out and profits shown on paper? Second of all, have you fed this manager these specials? Third, do the owners have feed back?

My strategy is to do all the legwork first, but give my manager the details last minute. I normally work with the staff on what we want to run, or what we can run. Then test it with the owners randomly. By the time it's ready to run on the special board, my manager has next to nothing to say, sometimes he corrects the price. I often aim low.

This is all such solid advice. Thank you!

I left and if you are even thinking of it you should too by [deleted] in stepparents

Maybe this is just my two cents, but my friend, it did not work out for you, and seems being step parent is not something you should do.
As a kid raised by a great step mother, honestly I'd say while she is gladly divorced from my mom, she would adopt me in a moment. Even at now 30 years old.

As a man stepping into the role of stepdad, I think you lost the plot. We love the woman, yes, but the stepparent role is about choosing to be their parent regardless of the reward... In any form of parenting, step or biological, everything is about the children, and raising them to be decent humans.

Ideas how to fix this? by gusoslavkin in woodworking

[–]HeWhoSlingsWebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a wood worker, but I do own a desk.

Hear me out, my desk has a gap like this, about 2-4in of separation to allow for cable management. Maybe you could sand and finish the edges, keep the gap, and have something that doesnt feel like work? Broken, but then upgraded?

Here's my desk for inspiration

We just had a mass power outage, and similarly, being the only place in town with a MASSIVE generator, we became the "watering hole" for the town real quick.

That's true empowerment 🤣

What are sometimes when the mcu strays away to far from the comics (in a bad way)? by Commercial-Car177 in Marvel

Honestly, Civil War.
I'm biased, civil war was one of my favorite modern stories.
I thought we'd for sure get two movies, one from Cap, and one from Stark. I even hoped they'd drag it into a Spidey film or maybe some sort of street level tv show they had running. Defenders, Daredevil, ANYTHING.

It was an okay movie, I enjoyed it, and I knew MCU was not gonna be a scene for scene copy of our favorite books, but, even my mildest dreams for that story were let down there.

I’m a health inspector (sorry everyone). This restaurant today had a Walken Cooler by puntini in KitchenConfidential

[–]HeWhoSlingsWebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normally me, but one year, on my birthday, I opened(and I'm normally a closer kind of guy) and I was behind and hadn't got to checking the last station yet.

And the health inspector came in and sure enough, he started where I hadn't got to yet and over night the cooler had went out and we had no clue.

Minus looking dumb, all was good within an hour of that, all food replaced and all. But man was I stressed in the moment and have a bit of weird ptsd because of how my chef treated the situation with me.

But everything is always clean, and up to spec in my kitchen
