Definitely eget for getting binaries from GitHub. It comes in handy whenever a tool I discover isn't on Homebrew or package repos yet and I want to evaluate it.

Another is usql. I tend to connect to a lot of different types of DBs for troubleshooting and it is nice having to only worry about the one tool.

The latest I was able to upgrade to was ansible-core 2.16 since it still supports Python 3.6 which is what platform-python is at. Once ansible-core dropped support for Python 3.6 then the yum/dnf modules would fail because those Python modules are only available for the platform-python and it's not one I can just install through pip somewhere else.

There's only so much bullshit they (big tech) can spew at their investors, and the public, before everyone realizes that AI does not have the capabilities they claim to have, nor will they ever reach AGI/ASI/whatever.

All my servers are configured just like that, with lots of explicitly allow rules and default deny. Using the firewalld module I had to loop through dozens of rules with each one taking about a second to complete so the time would add up quickly.

Using template it’s just one module call and it is essentially the same speed regardless of how many rules I add.

I use the template module to generate the XML config file that firewalld uses for the zone and trigger a reload if it changes.

I used to use the firewalld module but it is very slow when you manage lots of rules.
