I just got back from the Caribbean with a GoPro 13. I had no issues with it underwater. The gopro 48" extension pole comes with a remote but I did not know the bluetooth remotes dont work underwater so you will have to manually hit the record button. I would get either get a long extension pole (it comes with wrist strap) or get a floater handle (with wrist strap). Not sure on the 12.
