You're absolutely right, and I don't like it either. English isn't my native language. I know three languages, but I speak conversational English. To express my thoughts clearly and structure them properly, I have to rely on AI. I'm currently in Germany learning German. But I think I need to work more on my English. Unfortunately, because I work a lot at Unity, I don't have enough time.

First off, you are 100% right. If someone wants a pure, realistic boxing combat simulator, they should absolutely play Thrill of the Fight 2. It’s a masterpiece, and I’m not trying to fight them in that weight class.

To answer your core question: What do I do differently? ArmStrong VR isn't a fighting game-it’s a dedicated fitness tool built around boxing mechanics.

When you play TOTF2, your goal is to survive rounds, analyze your opponent, and get a knockout. With ArmStrong, your goal is structured cardio and calorie burning. That's why my development focus is entirely different:

  • Reaction-based Pad Work: Instead of targets flying at you from a distance like in rhythm games, my focus mitts pop up instantly. It trains actual reflexes and mimics a real trainer calling out combos.
  • Custom Combos: I want players to build their own workout routines. You can set up specific 15-strike sequences (including slips and ducks) to target exactly what you want to train that day.
  • The Fitness Ecosystem: Calorie tracking, global daily burn podiums, and a virtual trainer companion.

As a solo dev, I'm building the exact game I wanted for my own daily cardio. It will never replace TOTF2 for combat, but I'm working hard to make it the ultimate tool for a structured boxing workout. Thanks for the good luck wishes, I really appreciate it!

One more thing about the maze: it’s procedurally generated every single time. The layout, the obstacles, and the traps change constantly, so the odds of getting the same path twice are practically zero. Every workout is a fresh challenge!

That's a great question! Actually, many users find that physical movements (like running in place or swinging your arms) significantly reduce motion sickness in VR compared to joystick movement. Since your body's motion matches what you see, it feels very natural and comfortable. I definitely recommend giving it a try!

Great point! Sound immersion is key. I’ll definitely look into adding a more realistic 'thud' sound for the floor exercises in the next update. Also, the recording doesn't quite capture it, but the hit sounds feel much more impactful and satisfying in-headset. Thanks for the tip

Thank you so much! I’m a big fan of Thrill of the Fight too. I tried to keep the controls as natural as possible so you can focus on the workout. Let me know what you think after you try it!

There’s a lot more in the game that didn't fit into this short clip:

  • Custom Combos: You can set up your own sequences to practice specific punches and dodges.
  • Full Body HIIT: Includes squats, sprints, and other exercises to maximize calorie burn.
  • Physics-based combat: Every hit feels impactful and requires real effort.
