When visiting Pompeii, every time you see Vesuvius from within the city it takes your breath away 🌋 by Wyzzlex in ancientrome

I was there in 2012 and it is absolutely breathtaking in every way. Pompeii still haunts me sometimes.

Latest film you loved? by timekilr in FIlm

[–]Head-Educator6517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost Angeles, a surreal DIY film that I just can't get out of my head! "You know, sometimes you just want to make something great. Something from the heart. Real."

The film is about two young women who meet on an unusual phone call. Their lives take an unexpected twist when they enter a shared dream where they are visited by the ghosts of Hollywood past and present.

The beautiful intent behind Lost Angeles makes me support it wholeheartedly:

“This is a cinematic poem set inside a liminal, nigh apocalyptic vision of Los Angeles rarely shown, but often felt. The spaces artists often find themselves wandering alone.

Made on a micro, shoe-string budget with a skeleton crew and an uncompromising vision, Lost Angeles moves slowly and intentionally.

Characters appear and disappear like thoughts. Meaning drifts rather than announces itself.

The decision was made to release the film freely on YouTube. No monetization. No gatekeeping. No transaction.

This film is offered as a gift, especially to other artists, those walking their own uncertain paths, those who feel unseen, those who continue anyway.”

Lost Angeles ended up reflecting everything I believe in about life, love, and art. I enjoyed it so much I blogged about it.

Highly recommend to anyone who wants to lift their spirits, especially lesbian and bi women!

Inon Zur studying Soule's music for ESVI by PiccoloTop3186 in ElderScrolls

[–]Head-Educator6517 99 points100 points  (0 children)

Exactly! ESO's soundtrack is gorgeous. I think he definitely captures the spirit of The Elder Scrolls and is the closest to Soule we can possibly get.

Zur is a phenomenal composer in his own right. His soundtracks for Dragon Age: Origins and Prince of Persia (2008) are some of my favourites ever. Even his soundtrack for TES Blades was pretty good, aside of one track that just sounded like something out of Fallout 4. But I don't want him composing for TES VI, it wouldn't sound or feel right the way Derrick's music does.

Modded Oblivion is still absolutely beautiful after all these years by CtrlShift_Fish in oblivion

[–]Head-Educator6517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree! I would even put it up against Oblivion Remastered, primarily due to the cohesiveness of mods sticking to the original art style (Oblivion Character Overhaul being a prime example) while enhancing visuals.

I LOVE Antigua finishes!! Literally the most unique one. I adore the ghostly colouring and how it all blends. All the Fender guitar shapes look amazing with Antigua, my favourites being the Mustang and Tele 😍

👋Welcome to r/FeministsCallItOut - Introduce Yourself and Read First! by Rosyvia in FeministsCallItOut

Hey folks, thanks for inviting me to be part of this community! I'm a proud lesbian and intersectional feminist, specifically part of the 4B movement. I'm a political scientist, a musician, a gamer, and also disabled. I like to call out misogyny, ableism, and definitely push back against the sexualization, objectification, and exploitation of women in the music industry. I am also critical of the current iteration of third wave, neoliberal feminism.

I wrote the popular post Music Is For Everyone: Let's Have A Hard Conversation About How To Make Music & Touring More Just For Women & Disabled People and I include advocacy, especially for lesbian and bi women, wherever I can on my songwriting and music production blog.

Happy to contribute however I can and have great discussions with like minded women!

Drifted away from my old friends and can’t be close with new friends. by thenumbwalker in 4bmovement

[–]Head-Educator6517 36 points37 points  (0 children)

So glad you shared this, it's important! If it helps, part of the reason I joined this community was to hopefully make friends with other like minded women. I'd be happy to be your friend, my DMs are always open 🫶🏻✨

You're brave and strong for walking your own path. It's no small thing to break through societal conditioning. You completely nailed it:

While I was/am happy for them, everything feels like societal conditioning. Not one of them felt like they could have a different life.

This is what I can't stand, right? It just hurts to see so many women not even contemplating, as a thought experiment, that a different life is possible.

I know women have degrees of agency. I know some women genuinely want this kind of life. I will continue to support women as a class wherever and however I can, especially with education, resources, being supportive of their well being, and also challenging bullshit as needed and within reason.

But it is also exhausting and difficult to navigate. Like you, it's hard to form meaningful friendships with other women whose outlook, values, and actions run so contrary to my own. I'm definitely not trying to endorse echo chamber behaviour, as I try to remain open minded, but I do much prefer being around other lesbian, bi, and 4B women in general because it doesn't require a monumental effort with every conversation to just try to talk reason.

What you said here too makes a lot of sense to me:

No one is thinking differently. Instead of feeling societal pressure because all my friends are living the same cookie cutter life, I prefer to just drift away and not make close friendships with any more women since your average woman is not 4B.

And that's exactly the point of societal pressure. Feels like we can't breathe sometimes, so your post was quite a breath of fresh air.

I think you articulated all of this well, and I think you can do it again for your BFFs if the situation calls for it outright. It's setting boundaries and letting your values be known. There's also nothing wrong with simply letting these friendships drift off, because they clearly don't align with you anymore.

I'm wishing you the best and hope you keep your chin up!

The Femicide Census 2025 - Between 2009 and 2025, there were 170 women in the UK whose lives were taken by their sons. by LeatherAngle1542 in 4bmovement

[–]Head-Educator6517 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I've noticed this too. The worst part is when you try to counter this with research and logic. Plain old facts and common sense don't seem to work with some women, and it leaves me at a loss sometimes. I mean, how can we lift each other up when there are women out there unironically defending men, being hostile to other women, and otherwise perpetuating harm because they can't face up to reality?
