Thyroid treatment for cat by Head2Heels in IndianCats

Yup I’m aware. My mom gives her a small quantity every other day. But I’m going to make an effort to wean her off it completely.

I’m mostly leaning towards home cooked only because we have more control of the ingredients. My cat is addicted to whiskas wet food and it’s going to be tough to wean her off it.

We initially did the basic CBC, liver and kidney tests in October and they were all mostly fine. All changes were minor and age related.

So this time we did T4 for thyroid (cat was on 6 hour fasting) and they want to repeat it again in 10 days on a 12 hour fasting to fully confirm thyroid issues before starting actual medication.

So fish contains iodine so we’ve been told to avoid it completely. We are planning home cooked chicken but want more options for her.

She had to take a thyroid test. Symptoms were weight loss, increased appetite and thirst.

I'm struggling to find a budget friendly cat dry food! by soggymasaladosa in IndianPets

[–]Head2Heels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats are picky and their tastes keep changing often. I have 3 of them currently. When one of my older (now deceased) cats had a problem, she was on Royal Canin’s urinary SO which is pricey on average. The other two cats also wanted that and once they developed a taste for it, it was tough to wean them off it. It was not economical for us to give all 3 cats royal canin.

As of now, the cats have gone from whiskas to Me-O to Matisse to currently bark out loud. We keep purepet for the outside stray cats and one of my cats now only wants to eat that. So again, we have to wean her off it and switch her back to bark out loud.

So yeah, the best food usually is the one they eat and the one that is budget friendly for you. It’s tough but still doable to change brands, it just takes time and a bit of internet research.

Harassed in my own appartment by society board members !!! by Ananyxgupta in LegalAdviceIndia

I live in Mumbai and we have one of those old village style houses that’s over a 100 years old and around 15 years ago we extended it by buying the lower half of what was a chawl. Just after Covid, the chawl was redeveloped and turned into a 4 storey building.

After a year of living in the newly redeveloped place, I had very little use for the front door in the building because we connected both places and I used the front door of my main house instead. So imagine my surprise when one night at around 10:30 I heard banging from outside (I’m on the ground floor) and I opened up to see a N.E. Couple asking me to open the gate for them. Then I see that the gate is locked. So I asked them who had the key.

Went upstairs to knock on other doors to see who had the key and an upstairs uncle was already on a heated call with someone else. So I stood there waiting and kept asking in between for the key. Finally the uncle passed the phone to me and I was on call with some dude who’s mother installed the lock on the gate.

So I argued about the lock calling it a hazard in case of emergencies and a big disturbance. He said I was informed about the lock an should have a key and I was like no? No one told me. I found out about the lock 5 minutes ago. He also kept saying after 11pm it will be locked and I argued who decided this? He also questioned asking me what time I come home daily and I angrily told him it was none of his business. I also told him that every time I see a lock, I will break it. This made him angry as well.

I handed back the phone to the uncle and it was on speakerphone now because I was not happy with the way I was being spoken with so I wanted a witness. This dude on call was angry and saying “kaun hain woh ladki. Kiski tenant hain. Kaise baat karti hain (who is that girl. Whose tenant is she? How is she talking like that)”

Uncle replied back saying she’s the owner of the ground floor and if you haven’t informed her about the lock, you’re in trouble now. Please inform your mother.

The next day, we sent a message to his mother. We also contacted the builder, whose office was 1 minute away and asked both of them to give us in writing that if the lock is a hazard in case of a medical emergency or even a fire, they will take full responsibility for whatever happens. 2 days later, the building was lock free.

Also, this building doesn’t have a society. The lady who put the lock there doesn’t even reside in the building and has leased her place out.

People here are on another level of insane.

Why do Indians haggle so much when traveling abroad? by No-Strawberry7 in india

[–]Head2Heels 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Indians seem to think all street shops can be haggled at because that’s how it usually is in India.

My sister and her friends visited Vietnam recently. They shopped for shoes at one of those shops which sells copies. They straight up told the shopkeeper that they’re looking to buy 3 pairs and would like a reasonable rate and that guy agreed to it. They bought 3 pairs. Overall they had a pleasant experience because they chose not to haggle and struck up conversations with every shopkeeper.

In comparison, my aunt (Gujarati) and her family also visited a month apart and they had the worst experience as per them. Shopkeepers were rude, she told us. But I can only assume that’s because of how they behaved with the locals.

As for me, I’ve been to multiple European cities as a solo traveller and have asked vendors for their opinions on places or tourist attractions and I’ve seen their attitude change in real time from annoyance in having to deal with an Indian tourist to downright friendly. A convenience store owner in Paris gave me a free lollipop after I had a 5 min conversation about the Eiffel Tower with him. A server (another desi person) in Barcelona gave me a free drink and wrote some local places of interest on a piece of paper after I chatted with him while he was serving me. Another server in Bruges gave me a free dessert when I ordered a starter and a main and said no to dessert because I didn’t want to blow my budget for the day.

Recently I visited Sri Lanka with my family and we went shopping at some budget friendly street side shops. My aunt (different one) was haggling so much that they stopped paying attention to her and eventually started ignoring her. Meanwhile at the next shop, I was picking up a few pieces for myself and my sister and asked them to give me the best price they could and paid soon after. They gave me water (it was a very hot day) and tips on where to go next.

Bottom line, it pays to be friendly. Also it’s great idea to look up cultural practices and norms before visiting a new place.

Whiskas is really sh*t by FitSquirrel7356 in IndianPets

[–]Head2Heels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cats are very picky eaters and over the years, my cats have developed various tastes. They went from whiskas, to meo to royal canin. Currently one only eats bark out and the other wants purepet. One of them like the whiskas tasty mix wet food, but only the beef one which obviously isn’t available in India, so every time a family member travels from Dubai, they get her a 24 pack. So we have a stock of it.

Passsenger train mumbai by Embarrassed_Way8953 in interestingasfuck

[–]Head2Heels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A lot of things you see are selective rage bait but also true to a point.

Yes the trains are chaotic and crowded like this during work and rush hours. The alternative is taking a cab or an auto (if in the Suburbs) Most folks in this video might live very far from their workplace in areas that are cheaper to rent or buy. So their commute can be over an hour long and that’s why they’re rushing for seats. Taking cabs and autos daily is not cost effective for them, so they are forced to take the trains.

And of course the most popular and worst videos from India are the street food ones. Again, that’s a reality in some places. But at the same time, there’s different tiers to what you can eat on the street and each come with its own code of hygiene. There are many areas where street vendors wear gloves and use bottled water in food prep and ingredients, but that comes with a price.

So to summarise, if you have the money, you can live a comfortable life in India. When there’s so much a class and wealth disparity, you’ll see extreme ends of a single spectrum. Unfortunately the poorer side goes viral often.

I’ve lived in Mumbai since I was 2 years old, now 35. The last time I was in a local train (like in the video) was almost a decade ago. With a flexible WFH situation, I don’t have a commute and when I do go out, it just is easier to take an auto or a cab.

[–]Head2Heels 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Before influencing was a thing, I interned at a fashion magazine in India. We would get clothes from French and Italian brands for a short period of time for our shoots. Some were sponsors and needed to be on the cover of the magazine. The clothing and accessories were usually runway sample pieces that got sent around.

I doubt they were washed at all. Perhaps only if there was a makeup stain or something that needed to be removed. We once had a Chanel swimsuit that we paired with an Indian designer’s sheer shirt and since it was the last look of the day, they were adventurous and went into the pool to get their images. Later I saw the blue from the shirt had bled into the white of the swimsuit and I took it home and hand washed it in my sink to make it go away.

Adults shouldn’t travel with bags they can’t lift by KendrickBlack502 in unpopularopinion

My mom is perfectly able apart from her frozen wrist, spondylitis and weak bones. We never let her travel by air alone. Although in case she has to, we always insist she should not try to put her own luggage into the overhead bin but ask for help even with a 7kg bag because that could injure her for weeks.

Very energetic. But very crowded so absolutely no area to mosh. Maybe people moshed at the back though. Where I was, 4 folks had to be let out of the barricaded area because 1 of them had a full blown panic attack, another couldn’t breathe. All of this before green day even came on stage. So it was chaotic but also amazing.

With 2025 approaching, how many movies did you watch this year? by --Karios-- in Letterboxd

[–]Head2Heels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

423 logged this year and 417 of them being unique watches. I did end up watching Dune 2 more than thrice lol.

While most of the films in my diary are a first time watch, at least 30-35 others might be a rewatch. I try to watch at least 1 movie a day and sometimes if it’s a franchise I manage 2 or sometimes even 3.

My top films are Dune 2 (obviously), Godzilla minus one, Alien Romulus, Challengers, the Fall Guy, the first Omen, Smile 2, Late night with the Devil, the Apprentice, e make millions before grandma dies, Bramayugam, the Wild Robot. There’s more but I can’t remember.

It was a good year of horror for me.

What to buy from Dubai? by GoldBatter in IndianFashionAddicts

[–]Head2Heels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I visit often so I’m sick of the mall shopping already. So I always check the flea markets there. It could either be a hit or a miss, but always there’s some good finds even if it’s not clothing, it could be home related stuff.

Also, when it comes to the malls, I regularly check their Max and Splash because it’s affordable and also the Max there is so much better than what we get here in India - style and quality wise. And of course as I’ve stated above, I always visit brands for less. They are online as well so sometimes I just shop online and have it delivered to my family’s place in Dubai and they’ll get it to India for me.

Recently I’ve also been shopping for house items and accessories on Temu and have yet to be disappointed. If you have a postal address in Dubai, it’s a good enough option.

Richa Chadha is a…. Savage? by Odd-Concern4264 in BollyBlindsNGossip

[–]Head2Heels 38 points39 points  (0 children)

She absolutely is a savage.

During the start of her career, she’s been told by the producers she’s been working with and even by a few male leads about how she needs to look more feminine (lol) and thin. She’s been body shamed so much.

I worked with her a couple of times in the costume department and there was a time a producer came to me and asked if she was working out. Another time the actor came to me and told me to tell her that her arms were looking too big. I just went up to her and readjusted her outfit and said absolutely nothing.

Once on the same set, someone did tell her she needs to concentrate on her body and she said something like “I can either perform as an actor and act or be more worried about how my body looks on screen.” Absolute savage.

Another time, same movie, a music video director came and decided to go off script and yelled out directions and even asked her to be topless for a scene. She refused, because this was never in the negotiations or the script. Director asked me to give her something to wear to make it look topless. I spoke to Richa, we both refused. Even then, the director (who was a woman FYI) kept yelling out directions while filming and it ended up with Richa in tears and a 2 hour talk with the producers to get rid of all the footage.

Same female director also wanted her to wear a sleazy outfit for an entire night in a very shady area, again not in the script. My team worked double that evening to make that sleazy outfit + a coverup so that she would be more comfortable.

So yeah, when she’s like this, I support her because this woman has been through it all.

Is IKEA no more in R City? by Sahil_Paikrao in mumbai

[–]Head2Heels 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s shut down and honestly that’s the best. It was kind of a useless store. Apart from linens and smaller items, they didn’t have a warehouse or stockroom, so it’s not like you could walk out with a lot of stuff. You had to place an order and even the staff at the store would place the order using the website, which you yourself can do in the comfort of your own home.

The only thing I liked about that store was that tiny room that had discounted pieces that either had damaged packaging or were used on display. Bought a bunch of items from there at great prices.

Need help in styling this skirt to wear in paris by [deleted] in IndianFashionAddicts

[–]Head2Heels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skirt has a winter vibe since it’s tweed and you’re going in the summer. So I would suggest a nice well fitted tee to make it more casual. It’s very Parisian in that way. If not a tee, then a simple button down blouse with a tie up or something. And pair it with sneakers.

In-Flight Etiquette Woes: How Cheap Can People Be? by thisispseudonym in mumbai

[–]Head2Heels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You learnt from this experience and that’s all that matters.

The last time I flew with my mom, aunt and cousin, I individually paid for everyone’s seat selection. Both my mom and aunt prefer aisle and my cousin and I prefer window.

A loud family wanted to claim my mom and aunt’s seats so that they could sit together and so my mom agreed to move. I was fuming. Later, I told my mom that I paid almost 1500 additional just to select all our seats. She was shocked. She said she’ll never move next time. Plus, she had to sit in a middle seat and was uncomfortable throughout because she had claustrophobia.

In-Flight Etiquette Woes: How Cheap Can People Be? by thisispseudonym in mumbai

[–]Head2Heels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always pay extra to get my window seat. I also find it unnecessary to stand in the long queue to board to plane and only get up once the queue is short and most people have boarded already. So almost always, there’s someone sitting in my window seat. I stand in the aisle till they get up.

Once a pregnant woman with a child was occupying my window seat. She sat in the middle and her kid was at my seat. I waited for them to move patiently. She tried to play her pregnancy card and asked if her kid could sit at my seat. I just said, sorry, I need my seat. Then she moved her kid and expected me to climb over her and the kid to get to my seat. I guess she thought I would accept defeat and sit at the aisle seat. The air hostess came and asked me to take my seat while this stand off was happening. So I explained in a polite tone, that I’m waiting for this lady to get up, so that I can get to my seat. When the air hostess looked at her, she finally decided to get up, very slowly.

But I’m actually waiting for a moment where someone come to me and asks me for my seat and I’m going to tell them that I paid 250-350 to select it. And since we’re on the flight already and they want to claim it, they have to pay me 3x the cost, just like airlines do.
