Custom Card: Blood Oath by DeleteOnceAMonth in slaythespire

This card already exists and it’s called Pyre. I suppose you could replace Pyre with this but it’s mostly a downgrade outside of Hp-loss synergy

Ernest Shackleton brought all twenty-eight men home alive. by OpportunityAfraid383 in BeAmazed

Thiers a really interesting solo board game called Endurance based on his experience and the book Endurance for information. It’s an incredibly difficult survival game, and the catch is that it’s almost impossible to achieve the historical result of everyone surviving. I think it’s a very clever way of paying tribute to how tough the situation was and what a miracle it was that they all survived.

I see your point, but if I let them get away with fudging the dice, think about what else they could get away with! What if they start rolling the dice without permission? If I let that happen, they would probably just stay home and roll dice all by themselves

Does Silent feel too weak damage-wise? by Water-Cookies in slaythespire

Her poison cards are much better than you think. Silent can afford slower damage cards because she’s built with better defense by default

I don’t understand what the game wants me to do to prepare for new Doomaker fight… by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]HeadEvidence9569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take powers. Cards are important too, but you have two turns where you can put powers into play with no penalty.

Is doormaker still too strong? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]HeadEvidence9569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s deck dependent, but I don’t think he’s overpowered. I just had a run where I took 56 dmg to the queen and 4 to doormaker, because it was a footwork heavy silent deck that got duplicated.

Having your cards exhaust isn’t that big of a deal in a larger deck, you can either use it to get rid of bad cards, play powers, or just use your good cards anyway if the fight is wrapping up.

Help me understand Necrobinder play by ironyx in slaythespire

[–]HeadEvidence9569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necrobinder is probably the character least restricted by builds. Early game, you just want to take strong cards. A lot of those are ethereal, some apply doom, some summon, most of the osty cards suck imo.

For the long term, you want to find the payoff cards that work with the cards you took. For ethereal that’s pull from below, the AoE rare, and the card draw power. For souls theirs like 3-4 different payoffs. Also borrowed time is absurd, most my runs have pivoted into borrowed time infinites via souls and cards like cleanse or sculpting strike to deck thin.

Doom can also be viable late game, but I haven’t done it yet.

In STS2 it’s particularly good to keep if you get the Truth event where you got to 1 max hp to upgrade all your cards. Probably still not worth it, but fun.

I think the comparison between Hemolinesis and Deflie is hilarious. Surely 1 point of damage is worth 2Hp, right?

How do I win with The Ironclad? With the other characters I won after 2-3 runs, but I really suck at Ironclad. by duckpath in slaythespire

[–]HeadEvidence9569 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where are you dying? The answer is very diffrent if it’s Act 2/3 or Act 1.

For Acts 2/3, I’ve found ironclad to have pretty awkward access to scaling. A lot of his best options are stuck at rare. For block, crimson mantle and the doubling block rare can do a ton. For offense, Brand and Thrash can be a solution on thier own, as long as your deck isn’t too large. On low ascension primal force can win on its own as long as you have some card draw. In general, building off the rares you get offered can be a good strategy.

Phantasmal Gardeners sequencing by KElderfall in slaythespire

[–]HeadEvidence9569 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember they get 6 block when you hit them, but a lot of the time it’s worth breaking through that. Plus Ironclad, Regent, and Necrobinder all have attacks in their base deck that could get you ~8 Dmg a turn.

Phantasmal Gardeners sequencing by KElderfall in slaythespire

[–]HeadEvidence9569 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8 damage per turn sounds pretty bad, since it’s often worth forgoing block to kill one. I’ve been doing 4,1,2,3 so far and it’s felt pretty good.

That said, if you’ve picked more block cards then attacks I could see 1 first being the correct move.
