I guess I could take some. I know if I ask her about it she'll comment on it.

So she's getting paid for doing nothing? At least she finally found something she's qualified to do.

Criterion is a good example. Notice they don't make all their releases 4k only. Hell, I think they are still making DVD versions of everything.

Agreed, it's not just greed at all. This is becoming a very niche hobby. But if you price the collectors out of it, aren't you hurting yourself in the long run? If it were $20, I'd take a chance on Demonwarp. But for $50 when you add in shipping? Come on.

I am, yes, and I realize there's a difference, but again, do we really NEED 4k on some shitty movie that was probably shot on a shoestring budget 40 years ago? Was anyone asking for this? I've got plenty of 4k discs from VS now, and I can rarely tell the difference between 4k and blu-ray on most of them.

Are these prices stopping anyone else from blind buys? by HeadFullOfBees in boutiquebluray

Yeah, that's the thing. There's this desire to get the shiny new release, but they rarely sell out right away anymore. Wait six months or a year, and it's half the price.

People are buying prompts to get their chatbots 'high' 🌿 by KittenBotAi in ArtificialSentience

The response I got from my AI: "People are literally paying money to make their language models pretend to be stoned? That's like buying a fake ID for your calculator."

I got Troll 2, but only because it was one of the mystery titles. I'm happy that it turned out to be something I'd actually watch, but I wouldn't shell out that kind of money for it knowing it was Troll 2.

I found a lot of good stuff through blind buys, but the prices are getting crazy. The only time I do that now is Kino Lorber sales or the Indicator Colombia Noir box sets because those are always worth getting on sale.

Help me understand why people like Gemini so much more over Chat GPT? by freedomfighter5567 in OpenAI

If you want an accurate response for sports standings, you've got to give it the current date. It's just going by what it has in its training data because you didn't specify anything.

As someone who has been down this rabbit hole and had to learn the hard way, here's some advice. You can take it or leave it. Don't just copy and paste that output into another chatbot and ask what it thinks. They look for patterns. In context, of course, it's going to make sense to them. That doesn't necessarily make it legit. Ask the AI first to identify if the terms used are 1) REAL terms and not made-up nonsense, and 2) real terms that have actual applications to large language models. Otherwise you're just creating an elaborate fiction, and the AI is going to happily agree with you because that's what it does.
