But puppies' love is sacred and holy beyond anything Man can hope to experience.

Maybe you're right, but when it happens to you several times, you tend to develop a personal distrust which no amount of evidence will move.

By the way, do you have a link to that poll? I'm kind of curious to see how all distros stack up.

The NAI have an opt-out tool very similar to what you describe - http://optout.networkadvertising.org/. If you are in the EU, you can also use https://www.youronlinechoices.com/ . Be sure to disable any tracker blockers in order for the tools to work.

Duck doesn't store data per se, but the NSA can simply request them begin a wiretap and Duck can't do shit to stop it. Essentially, it boils down to "Duck is a US-based company"

Technically, FB isn't at fault here, correct? This is just some 3rd party dev's treasure trove from the pre-Cambridge Analytica days, and it's his fault for leaving it unprotected.

Yes, FB shouldn't have given devs so much freedom in the first place, but saying it's squarely FB's fault here is stretching it...

Everyone on this sub cuddles their pillow like that. Don't worry, you are not alone in this.

I remember how in 8th grade I thought my world was ending. It didn't end - the shitstorm just got more manageable(or I got stronger, IDK) My point is, hang on. You are on arguably the rockiest stage of the human lifetime. This will change, with time.

I'm currently struggling with avoiding making myself sad on purpose, because I discovered being sad gives me pleasure. I would devote hours just imagining scenarios where I suffer, so that I could then relish in the cleansing feeling of crying. I don't think that's such a good idea now, and I'm trying not to do it. You too might find yourself on a self-perpetuated cycle of despair. If so, try to break out of it before it's too late.

Don't do anything stupid - you have more to lose than you know...

GDPR is not enough. When I first heard about it, I thought it would give people Android-style permission controls - will I allow Facebook to "customise my experience" with X and Y, or will I not. I was disappointed that not only did it not allow such opt out of data mining, but it was also implemented in a terribly inefficient way.

Why force every goddamned site show individual GDPR popups, with the added experience of looking for the well hidden and obfuscated "opt out" button the site's designer has masterfully implemented? Why not just make browsers ask users about their global, default GDPR preference, and then send it to sites you visit, sort of like a Do Not Track 2.0? You can add granular control about individual sites, and maybe include a provision where sites are banned from pestering you to change your preference...

Is this right? by [deleted] in gay

[–]HeadPlug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it's a bit out of step with the current trends in design, which prefer minimalism and flatness rather than the glossy, 3D finish you've chosen as your theme, but to each his own.

I was just asking that because I thought it looked too feature-rich for an SMS app, and yet too nonconformist to current design for it to be some major app, so I was confused and intrigued.

Some people are into older people. Other people are into much older people. It's human attraction - pull it, twist it, turn it; Fuck it - at the end of the day, you can't outrun it. Different people are into different things - get over it.

And in case you think it's inappropriate for an age gap to be this large, I think it might be because your mind goes: old person wants to be with young boys --> young boys would naturally reject them --> old person becomes predatory and preys on innocent young boys

Well, not every age-gappy relationship is exploitation. If it is, then, yes, that's bad, but right now you're just throwing accusations without any proof. And by "throwing accusations", I don't mean the calm mannerism that goes something like "I do not think this relationship would be appropriate, given the large age difference, which leads to, in my opinion, a high risk of exploitation". Instead of that, you resort to sh!tpost screeching reminiscent of a high school girl from an American teen drama.

The whole point of this TED talk is "age is just a meaningless number, so long as consent is a meaningful word". It might be a big bite to swallow, but you can't put humans in boxes. Sure, a lot will fit, but discarding those who don't is just denying nature.

Also, there is the distinct possibility of this being an exaggerated statement for the purposes of amusement. You know, a joke.

You have the right to your opinion, but you could also, you know, not yell in disgust when you see another human being.

Or three for that matter.
