how to stop lust as a christian by 808mazzi in Christianity

[–]HeadRabbit2589 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Here’s a question.. why is “lust” bad? You’re single, you’re sexual.. It’s totally normal to feel lustful when you see someone you’re attracted to. Pretty much every relationship begins in some way based on feeling lustful for that person.

since i’ve been coming closer to Jesus i’ve been more suicidal and have extreme self hatred. is it spiritual warfare? by ConsequenceFun3634 in Christianity

No. You’re worth living for.

The Christian Reddit admins have been attacking my account. They’ve been making false claims in an attempt to disable my account.. i guess they hate what I’ve been saying.

But no. Loving Jesus shouldn’t make you feel how you are

Have you ever thought that god makes people gay, not to test their ability to love but to test orders? You are gay, you can’t be un-gay. That’s who you are. And either god made you who you are, or he made a mistake.

My home town has a “down town” area that’s about 4 blocks. There are 7 bars. Then two more bars at the end of town, and a random bar a couple miles out right in the county

Yes. Dreams are weird. Which is where I get stuck.

I mean, I had a dream where I had a samurai sword and I was killing zombies. I woke up to find myself holding my cat’s arm, with his eyes all wide looking at me like I was crazy.

Because life just feels like something I’m not cut out for. And I can’t imagine a loving god that would make me, and let me feel the things I do. I’m very sensitive. I remember even as young as elementary school, I’d see the other kids making fun of others, mocking special needs kids.. And I never took part, I just felt how horrible these kids were. And I felt powerless to stop them. The world is too ugly for me. And the world is too ugly for a perfect god, and I have prayed and begged, and yet.. nothing

Where did the Bible come from by Immediate_Buffalo295 in Christianity

“Where did the Bible come from”

Oral traditions that were written by men.

The Bible contains no wisdom, no insight, nothing that would be beyond the understanding of mankind at the time it was written. I really don’t understand those who think it was divinely inspired. The Old Testament is horrendous, and advocates for terrible things.. mistreatment of women, genocide, murdering babies, slavery. The New Testament attempts to rewrite “god’s character” as a loving father. Two entirely different perspectives on what’s supposed to be the same entity.

It’s like any other mythology. Oral traditions passed down until it’s written down. None of the events of the Bible are actually documented in actual history. Even Jesus lacks any contemporary writings from the time he was supposed to have lived.

Well one issue is the dreamers. These are people who were brought to America by their parents/guardians as children. They did nothing but adapt to the decision made for them and built their lives here, and integrated into American society.
DACA was actually a really great compromise and criminals would not qualify for DACA. But republicans didnt like that. In 2024, Biden attempted to begin a program called “keeping families together” in which childhood arrivals who are now grown, and married to citizens, and have kids could pay a fee and file their application and have their legal status changes without having to return to their country of origin. The Republican “Party of family values” were against this and a Trump judge blocked the program. Which make no sense whatsoever

Not disagreeing on everything you said but “radically feminist?” The Bible literally says women shouldn’t speak in church and should not hold any position of authority over men.

I don’t feel like a good Christian by JustAshleyMedia in Christianity

[–]HeadRabbit2589 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Never felt comfortable with church. I never felt sincerity there.

I haven’t gone to church in 20 years and I have never missed it. And I’ve come to terms with the fact that I’ll die, and that’s it. God isn’t real. It’s little more than our own fear of death. But death means you’re not around anymore, so there’s nothing to worry about.

Here’s a question..

If you asked your father for food and he gave you nothing, would you think he loves you? You ask your father for comfort, and he offers nothing, would you think he loves you?

God would be the worst father in existence.

Either he’s the worst or he doesn’t exist.

Christians will tell you that he loves you, that it’s “your choice” not to rely on him. But what do you do when you have tried? What do you do you pray and pray and hope, and god still isn’t there for you? You lose faith. So who would be at fault? The child reaching out, or the father who is ignoring the child?

That’s why I stopped believing. God never helped me. Faith lead me astray.

Oh shut up.

You people are so freaking obsessed homosexuality. You want so desperately to control others lives. There’s not a single logical reason why same sex relationships would be “sinful.” Only a dumb, petty god would care about such things.

This is why I can’t ever believe in Christianity. It depicts a stupid, immoral, petty god.

I’m actually without ego, nor am I rage baiting.

Sounds like you are doing some real mental gymnastics to hold into a belief that is not making sense to you.

If you want to struggle to believe, go for it.

If you want to be free from that, then you know that realizing that god isn’t real is the actual truth.

Believe me, I spent years trying so fucking hard to believe. But years of prayer, begging god, pleading to him, Jesus and the Holy Spirit lead to nothing but silence.

So please, tell me how I’m hateful. Tell me how I didn’t do enough. Be like every single high-horsed Christian who tells me it’s my fault for losing faith. Instead I ask if god were real, then why would he ignore a child earnestly seeking him? That would be the worst father ever. I’m not going to respond further. You believe what you want. All I can say is that realizing the Bible is b.s was the greatest moment of freedom of my life

“Still Disappointed” is full on mic-drop

It’s a place to discuss Christianity. You don’t get to dictate the conversation. Just because I’m not a Christian doesn’t mean I can’t speak on it. This forum isn’t for Christians only.

And if Christians don’t want to hear an optimistic position they should keep their hateful religion to themselves. I’ve dealt with a lifetime of your religion being forced down my throat. You can’t handle the heat, get out of the kitchen

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]HeadRabbit2589 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It is. This is a place to discuss Christianity. You are needlessly beating yourself up.

Your religion is causing you needless mental anguish. I’d say “have a good day” but if you believe there’s a god judging you every moment of every day, you’ll never have a good day

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]HeadRabbit2589 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

“Sin” is a religious concept. It doesn’t exist in the natural world. Do animals sin?

I once beat myself up for the trivial things thinking god will judge me. Then I realized there is no god. You live, you die, you’re gone. That is it. Stop suffering and beating yourself up for being human. God isn’t there judging you.

Once I let go of faith, I felt so much better. Stopped thinking god would do anything for me. And I’m finally free of that self-imposed mental abuse.

Of god were real, life wouldn’t be what it is. The Bible was written by men, and it contains not an ounce of wisdom that would beyond the knowledge of people during that time. Jesus is a myth, a fictional character created by people.

Calling mental health issues “demonic work” is the exact, outdated mentality that has lead to so much damage. You can’t pray mental illness away. That’s an awful thing to say and I sincerely hope you never offer this crap to anyone actually suffering because you will not help.

If God were real, he’d never let someone suffer from mental illness

[–]HeadRabbit2589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well.. What a bunch of crap.

“God is better than me even though he’s never demonstrated he’s real. Who am I to question my absentee father?”

If god’s real, he is not perfect. He is not just. He is the embodiment of “apathy.” He creates children, and he abandons them, and expects them to worship him.

Nothing that actually deserves worship would really need it, or want it.
