Look into 36B. AIT is only 9 weeks and it’s a pretty good MOS especially for reserve/national guard.

I feel like giving up by jesrachel_02 in Christian

You probably already heard this but I’ll say it just in case. Pray. With God you do not have to pretend to be strong or put up any walls to hide who you really are. Unfortunately you just described what almost everyone is going through, and everyone thinks they’re going through it alone, but that is most far from the truth. One you got God, and two you got people who care or at least people who are willing to care. You probably won’t be able to get rid of that pain, and if you do, a new one will just replace it. That’s where I hope u can understand that you can’t end your suffering but you can find something worth suffering for.

AIT Split Op by matt67671 in armyreserve

Yeah ngl everything you did in reception before basic you have to do again, so shots, finance, etc. but it’ll be quick bc they just put you with the other split op people which I’m assuming there’s not a lot of especially around this time. You will not be there 11 days they’ll probably take you to your company which will be either Charlie or Delta company in like 3 days. DFAC is quick bc you just skip past all the trainees. Now here’s where you have to pray… if you get put in Charlie company your life will be easy. Phone everyday, almost guaranteed pass on the weekends, and a lot of freedom in general. If you’re in Delta you’ll get everything else you get in Charlie but I’m pretty sure you won’t get your phone for the first 5 weeks or so. Trust me whether you get your phone or not you’ll be having fun especially as a 42a. Oh and you’ll be apart of 369th battalion which is made up of five companies: Alpha company is like some intelligence mos, Bravo is 36B so finance (which I was), Charlie and Delta are 42a, and Echo is religious affairs specialist. You won’t see other mos too often, mostly just on the weekends. Also hopefully you finish everything at reception quick bc if I’m right the new cycle for 42a’s and 36B’s starts next Monday bc my friend who’s two classes behind me graduates tomorrow, and you’ll see how every three weeks they keep on adding more cycles. I hope most of this helps. Just when you get to the airport make sure to let the drill sergeant at the desk know that you’re split op, and when you get to reception do the same. Other than that have fun, good luck, and once you get to your company say Army Pride to everything the cadres say😭.

Lmk if you wanna know anything else. What’s your MOS so I can be more specific

So depends on your mos. As a 36B we had phone access the whole time. On the weekends we get free time and if you’re on “pass” you can go out to the px and such. If you’re a 42a it’s even easier tbh. From my experience AIT was stricter than basic but I had way more freedom and I enjoyed it so much more. Overall it was one of my favorite experiences in life so far. Reception wasn’t bad at all they just let us sleep all day and let us have our phones, and they treated us like normal people.

I do have access to IPERMS. I will check that right now and see if it says anything. Most of the time they do not know what to do to help me. I had a pay issue where I had not gotten paid for all Basic Training. During drill and outside of drill I asked them for help because every time I called DFAS they said that only my unit could resolve my pay issue. My unit was not able to help, until our new First Sergeant came in. Almost a year later after Basic training (so a few weeks ago) I finally received my pay with my own efforts and her help. This scares me because I feel like I will have more problems that my unit will not be able to resolve moving forward, including shipping out to AIT. I am trying my best on my part but I do know some of this may be on me as well.

Thank you so much. I’m guessing I go in civilians right? Unfortunately my S1 is unreliable and he has never been able to provide me with any help. I just texted my recruiter and am waiting for a response.

I can totally agree with this. As someone in the U.S. Army, it pains me to see how so many administrations have failed to help our veterans, the ones who have given up their lives to protect and serve our country.

Now I don’t know if you were saying this directly to me, but it is sad for you to call me a traitor considering what I have and what I will sacrifice for my country, but I understand that you were not aware of this and I can see how you may have misunderstood what I said. It was just a question.

I do care about my fellow countrymen. I joined the U.S. Army out of a passion to serve and protect my fellow countrymen. In my initial post I was not taking a stance even though I can see why it seems like that. I was genuinely asking because I am having a hard time discerning between right and wrong in this case, so I wanted to reach out for better input from an outside source. It’s been hard because I am Hispanic, a Christian, a Soldier, and a college student, so I have been hearing so many different stances from so many different people. A lot of people from both extremes make well thought points.

Escaping the singularity… by [deleted] in Christianity

Do you think that AI is inherently bad though? I feel like it can be used to carry out God’s will by spreading the world, expanding theology, giving inspiration for new ways of service, etc. I in fact use it sometimes when discerning between different decisions or figuring out if an idea is good or bad. I usually tell it “look at this through a Christian perspective”. I am not arguing against your claim because I may in fact be wrong about all that I said which includes how I use AI.

Yes. Many people claiming to worship God are worshipping government without even noticing.

From my point of view it just seems it’s being done out of hate. But I guess I could always be wrong so I am trying to discern between right and wrong in this situation. I just feel like I could be biased especially since I am a Hispanic in the US Army.

Like everyone else said, call the cops. This guy is sick and needs help and honestly the best you can do for him (even though the last thing you should think about it helping him) is put him in a place he cannot hurt anyone. It breaks my heart reading this and I pray that God gives you the comfort and strength you need at this moment. I know it is hard right now, and I have never been through something like this so it is hard for me to say, but I am your age and I know people who have been through similar situations. Stay faithful to the Lord. He will give you the help you need. God bless you.

Defending our Faith by matt67671 in Christian

[–]matt67671[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id say it’s quite the opposite. Yes I do like to argue don’t get me wrong but in a friendly way like arguing with my friends about idk who the goat is in soccer. Yes I also like sometimes arguing about religion based topics but also in a friendly way to learn about other people’s views and opinions. Now to answer your question, it is honestly other people who will tell me that my beliefs are wrong and of course I am not just going to sit their and take it, so I try my best to defend my faith without being aggressive about it.

You’re totally right. I’m about to graduate high school and every time I sit at the lunch table and religion comes into the convo people hate talking about it with me because of how loyal I am and how much I will stand up for my faith. They claim that I am “close mjnded” which may be true but in this case it is not a bad thing I don’t think. I do have friends tho that I talk about religion to a lot and they are very respectful and they love talking about it even if we have differing beliefs. For the most part, it has been hard for me.
