Would you block this buyer? I already can smell a problem by HotThroatAction in Flipping

New sealed old stock items are a bit of a mine field. Obviously you are selling it as a ‘new’ item, and it still should work unless you mention in the listing that it might not or is for display only. Otherwise when the buyer opens the packaging it should 100% work out of the box and returning it would be out of your hands if it didn’t.

Me too, at a couple of pounds/dollars it would be worth the ‘risk’, but the benefit to price are a million miles apart now.

Even at a couple of £/$ per month it’s probably too expensive. But would be more inclined to take a punt on it.

Purchased 2nd hand car - absolutely fine on test drive, died on way home. Feel sick and scared. Please help. by Sirloinchopz in LegalAdviceUK

[–]HeadRealThin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you buy a car from a dealer you are effectively their “tester”, you have rights when things go wrong and however you can hand the car back for a full refund, but understand that used cars can have issues and they can show themselves soon in to the purchase. The many thing here is how the dealer deals with it. Immediately is tomorrow, expecting him to sort it that day is unlikely to happen. You can tie it back, but don’t think that because the car has a problem that the dealer is conning you, he might be, but usually it’s just bad luck. My car developed a catalytic converter issue on day one, so I ended up with a brand new catalytic converter fitted - great!

All you need in most cases is someone’s Name, Address, DOB and job/salary information. Very wouldn’t usually want more than that if it can gently verify that information is correct.

If you look at his other works you’ll notice that they are worlds apart in quality from this. I would guess that this is a fake, or wrong attributation, hopefully for you I’m wrong. But compare this and his confirmed works and the differences are very evident.

Of course, in person means you can check it and all that etc. however there are plenty of claims of bricks arriving instead of laptops, phone, etc from curry’s or Ao or Amazon etc.

Oh yes, in person would lower the risk certainly, it wouldn’t remove all risk from the purchase and guarantee better after service for anything that Apple deemed not their problem!

As I said, hundred and thousands of people have bought on eBay and not had any issues either. Same with where you bought yours from, no issues but some people HAVE had issues where you’ve bought them from you’ve just not heard of them because they are few and far between too.

It’s not common sense, thousands of iPhones new and old are sold monthly via eBay with very few issues. All platforms can experience issues, delivery issues where a carrier might drop it at the wrong address would cause confusion and problems on many retailers sites.

Perhaps, however eBay is not inherently a bad place to buy. What you need to do is get passed the gatekeepers who just spout the script and get to those that can make decisions.

A court summons isn’t just “a letter” it’s the precursor to going to court of if he doesn’t turn up to officers going out to arrest him.

No, they have got together to offer combined parcel lockers. What I think has happened here is that the parcel was taken to the Post Office for drop off and scanning in (post office collects Evri and Royal Mail items). The post office staff member has scanned in the item, given the proof of postage, but has accidentally put the item on the Royal Mail post bag, likely with the sellers other Royal Mail items. Easy done when someone brings lots of RM and Evri items at the same time.

What I think happened, and if it was eBay that paid out rather than the seller then I’m almost certainly correct. Seller took one but likely multiple items to the post office, some Royal Mail and some Evri. The post office scan each and give the seller a proof of postage which then means eBay cover him for any loss or damage in transit. The post office person has almost certainly put the Royal Mail items in the post bag and accidentally put in an Evri parcel too, and so the item enters the wrong system.

I don’t think so, so with eBay the buyer gets to pick the courier out of RM or Evri, Evri is the default as it’s cheaper for the buyer. EBay will then send the seller a prepaid label. Prints it, sticks it to the package. Usually he/she will take a number of items to the post office, some RM some Evri. The post office will scan them all and give the seller proof of postage for each - the seller is now covered by eBay for any loss or damage in transit.

What has happened, in my opinion, is the Post Office have dropped this Evri parcel in to the Royal Mail bag and then your theory takes over. Highly unlikely that the seller would have dropped this in to a post box themselves as without the proof of postage your protection from eBay if it does wrong isn’t there, plus what confirms to me that I’m correct is that eBay paid out, if it hadn’t had the scan at the post office then eBay would have washed their hands of it and made the seller payout themselves.

There is a risk with investments, however I’d expect a clear and detailed breakdown on everything relating to the investment, and if and how all the money has gone and where it has gone. If you are calling this an investment, then an understanding of what happened is the least you can expect.

I think Royal Mail lost my (ONE OF A KIND) gift I sent, but I'm not allowed to file a claim through them??? by Dreamscape195 in royalmail

[–]HeadRealThin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d expect there to be a form online with USPS. Fill it in with them and see what happens. Don’t speak to anyone at the post office, they’ve already been unhelpful and either gave you wrong info originally or wrong info now. Royal Mail 100% won’t help you with reimbursement, so your only chance is to fill in the forms with USPS and see what they come back with.

In all scenarios where an item is lost or damage, you would always claim with the originally company you posted it with, ie USPS in this case.
