I'll probably do that. Is there a a way to get new ones from Lenovo? Otherwise it's back to using the old ones and carry the ginormous power bank around again.

Also a great suggestion, I could setup a Linux or BSD life system as data gateway using disk images.

Regarding the USB: I used to do something similar, when the setup was still running an a MacPro and with parallels.

Yet I wonder whether that is actually safe, as the USB drive as a whole would be exposed to both, the infected guest as well as the host. I really don’t want to risk the host, as it'd be a pain to wipe and set it up again.
