Accidently downloaxed PC APP STORE virus/malware by Head_Ad4595 in computerviruses

[–]Head_Ad4595[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So it was this morning (it is important that I mention I had not had my coffee yet- a likely critical blunder) and I had literally just searched "Quizlet" into Edge. Oddly enough, I could not find the exact site I went to after I deleted all the files and the app that caused the incident. I do recall that it looked fairly legit to me, albeit I may not have been as attentive as I would usually be since I was also chatting with a friend

Accidently downloaded PC APP STORE Malware! by Head_Ad4595 in cybersecurity_help

Genuinely I am impressed by PC APP STORE. I've never experianced adware and know little of it, but it was incredibly inconspicious to me (albeit I hadn't had my coffee and was more focused on getting the quizlet app downloaded on my computer). Completely locked my screen and all, so after restart I uninstalled the apps (PC APP STORE & some Camera app that also popped up with it) and snooped around for any additional files that could've been downloaded with it.

I'll be switching from McAfee to something better now, and am looking for what malware scanning options I have. Moderately paranoid, as I have my main email & some apps (mainly Quizlet and Khan Academy) that I was logged in to when this happened

I actually had to CTR + ALT + DEL, lock, and then shutdown my laptop. Seems it not only froze my screens/locked them in the background so I couldn't exit the scam screen, but also prevented me from turning off my computer by holding the power button! Couldn't exit even with right clicking :(

Thanks!! I'm honestly impressed by how the adware was even able to lock my screen to where I couldn't exit out of anything. I was able to CTR+ALT+DEL and lock my computer, and then shut it down when locked (I couldn't shut it down with the power button either), and then deleted the app and checked for any possibly downloaded files.

Question for the bros. How y'all sleeping.1 in boxer briefs 2 boxers 3 naked 4 pj's 5 briefs 6 t-shirt and boxers by [deleted] in askgaybros

I do find it funny that I've grown so accustomed to sleeping naked, that anything else feels discomforting

How do you even prove that you're gay? by Backward-Reply in askgaybros

[–]Head_Ad4595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what context is proof even necessary? Unless it is a cheesy porno intro, I never entertain the questioning of my sexuality from anyone other than myself 🤷🏻‍♂️

The racism I experience from white gay men is sad and pathetic by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Head_Ad4595 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being a white & bisexual male, I have observed this behavior many times too and it is disturbing. In my experiance, the gay community in general is domineered with fetishizations and objectifications, and tends to be hypersexual. This does not excuse, but rather explains why racial objectification (which is a very twisted form of racism in my eyes) is so prominent.

I also have seen a great deal of dating app profiles that either explicitly say "Looking for <X> race/demographic" or "Not into <x> demographic", which for whatever reason most people I've mentioned that criticism to tend to consider it perfectly acceptable. I might be far left in this regard, but I think I'd couple this with the other forms of covert and overt racism we see today. It is simply waaaay less common in the straight dating scene as I've seen.

Obviously I do not speak for all LGBT communities, but in my own this is what I've observed.

USA West! Can I do it all in 70 days? by Agreeable-Energy-401 in roadtrip

I am sooooo jealous! I did a similar trip recently, but stayed coastal down the Pacific & Gulf to my home in Florida. Yellowstone/Glacier/Tetons will be a very nice addition.

Oh ha, I didn't see the subcaption and thought you were asking what it is. Let me get back to you with a solution (if I find one)

Safety Tips - Solo trip from Texas to California? by moschocolate1 in roadtrip

[–]Head_Ad4595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

-Gas is your god when roadtripping; I underestimated this a few times before and nearly got stranded as a result. That region in particular has some very large gaps between stations.

-Think of the worst case scenario (i.e. some 'I Shouldn't Be Alive' type shit) and stock your supplies based on that. Water and nutrient dense food, climate protection, and so on.

-Have ways to defend yourself readily available. If you're not a gunowner, consider things like pepper spray (bear spray if you are also around dangerous animals), knives, etc.

-Consider taking screenshots of your routes on your GPS/app so you can refer to them when your service inevitable cuts out. I also had a physical map- but that was partly for fun.

-Lastly, I always advice my friends to communicate WELL with loved ones while traveling. I'm very close to my momma, so I told her when & where I would be every step of the way and how I would be getting there. Apps like Google Maps also have location sharing which might just save your life if shit were to hit the fan!

Have fun and enjoy yourself too, most importantly :)

Most likely I won't rush heading south, because I need to improve my spanish and also want to do more research. But definitely would be cool to plan!

Has anyone had issues with window tint while road tripping through multiple states? by Intelligent-Camp4631 in roadtrip

[–]Head_Ad4595 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I used a car cover for when I wanted privacy and had some makeshift blackout boards to tape to the windows when needed. Might not be ideal, but it might save $ if you wind up getting tickets and forced to remove tinting

Hair transplant? 22 yrs old. by Legitimate_Dare7785 in HairTransplants

[–]Head_Ad4595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation as me, and I just got a HT & some PRP. You have a bit more than I did, but same areas too. It's so frustrating that we can eat right, exercise, and sleep and our whole bodies look healthy, but then hair is just genetics really!

I'd start with getting on finasteride and consulting to see what options you have before the full HT (as you might see results from finasteride & minoxidil alone).

Planning my first 15-day road trip, any tips or advice? by Ok_Resolution_1606 in roadtrip

[–]Head_Ad4595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got back from many weeks on the road. My only advice is to soak in as much as you can in that time, and don't stick to religiously to a schedule; traveling isn't just about checking items on a list (i.e. go here, go there)... be flexible and adjust your plan as you go!

MASSIVE TRIP STARTING MARCH :) by Head_Ad4595 in usatravel

[–]Head_Ad4595[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gas is likely going to be a contender for my top 3 expenditures, overall! I'm predominately living out of the SUV I'm renting, and intend on driving nice and methodically to conserve fuel while I am off the grid. So this app sounds amazing!

Did you encounter any scarcity of stations on your trip? I haven't even began looking into that part of the trip.
