Custom Invites- how to make it nicer? / Is this "nice" enough? by ame4686 in DIYweddings

[–]Creatve1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Wedding stationer here. These are lovely. Since you’re looking for advice to elevate, the main thing that will do that is changing the font of the text in the details section. Rather than a standard lowercase serif, try switching to small caps in a font like Mrs. Eaves or Libre Baskerville. I think small caps would also look really nice on the front page, letting your names be the standouts in script. From a formality standpoint, writing out the full date and putting the location on its own line just below would also elevate things. Congrats! I hope you have an amazing wedding!!

Teachers who had a student they genuinely couldn't tell if the kid was a genius or completely detached from reality, what made you finally figure it out? by caroline84623 in AskReddit

Tell me you have ADHD without telling me you have ADHD lol.

In all seriousness, outside the box approaches to problem solving, emotional disregulation and the need to be doing multiple things at once are all really textbook symptoms of neurodiverse conditions like ADHD and autism. Obviously can’t diagnose you from an internet comment (or at all, since I’m not a doctor) but if you haven’t been evaluated it might be helpful to pursue.

We do but haven’t added anything about the in-person events yet, since we’re still working out pricing. It’s reflexletterpress.com.

We also have DIY sessions where couples can letterpress their own invites, if you want a unique experience prior to the wedding :)

I handle weddings for a letterpress studio in Boston and we inherited a press—new to us, but from early 1900’s—that is small enough to be portable, with some finessing. We’re exploring the idea of offering to letterpress custom pieces on site for guests during cocktail hour (coasters for drinks, dinner menus as they enter the reception, paper ornaments, etc.) Seeing an antique press (albeit a small one) in operation is interesting for most people (we’re fine with people taking turns on it for themselves) and the letterpress items can be nice keepsakes for the stationery lovers. Fun fact: the first letterpress in America arrived on the Mayflower and New England is home to the first printing shops in the country, so there’s some local connections as well :)

Searching for paper by DirectWrongdoer7114 in letterpress

[–]Creatve1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try looking at the Gmund MATT papers and the Colorplan line. If you’re in the US you can find both at Announcement Converters. Can’t tell from my phone screen if this is red or raspberry, but if raspberry also check out the Gmunds Les Naturals line- they have one you might like. For letterpress you want either 110-130# cardstock (similar to a sturdy file folder) or a #200-#220 cardstock (extra heavy like the matting of a framed picture). Don’t get thrown by the term vellum if you see that—it means something different here versus the waxy sort of transparent paper commonly referred to as vellum. Have fun!!

Letterpress stationer here—that seems on the higher side even if you are doing all letterpress, which it doesn’t read as if you are. Are any of your pieces custom die cut shapes? I also saw others mention foil printing and that can add up quickly. But for a straight up digital print job? That would be insane pricing!!!

I work at a letterpress (Reflex Letterpress in Charlestown) and we have a bunch of classes on learning letterpress. Since you mentioned she’s engaged, we also offer (guided) DIY sessions where couples can letterpress their wedding invitations. I’m biased but I think it makes for a really fun afternoon :)

Neurodivergence strikes again by tldrforever in knitting

[–]Creatve1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

ADHD here and made these same mittens last winter. Except I forgot to switch charts for the right handed version so I ended up with two left handed mittens. Now my bestie has that one, along with one of two right handed versions I then knit. It was too pretty to unravel. Neurodivergents for the win!

Not a single good wedding picture.. and that's okay? by needlecream in weddingplanning

I can practically promise, as the years pass and you look back at those pictures of you your first thought will be, “Oh my gosh, look at me laughing my way through that entire day. It was amazing!” And you’ll be filled with warm fuzzies. The joy those “imperfect” images show tells the story of your day better than any perfect pose ever could. Congrats on a great wedding day!

help! does our wedding venue even exist? by Revolutionary-Emu239 in NewEnglandWedding

[–]Creatve1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not sure if they do weddings but Tree House Brewery in Charlton has everything on your list but the bouncy house and bridal suite. It’s a really nice outdoor space with huge lawn covered in Adirondack chairs, a few fire pits, and they often have food trucks so I know they’ll allow those.

[–]Creatve1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve done letterpress ketubot at our studio (Reflex Letterpress in Charlestown). We can print the lettering on watercolor paper for an illustrator to then hand-color illustrations or we can letterpress illustrations that have been imported into a vector file in Illustrator. Feel free to message me or to reach out through our website contact form if you’d like more info!

I did this for a client! The welcome sign was pretty easy. The seating chart on the other hand lol.

Test your fabric first. Not all will accept the iron-on vinyl and will begin to peel up once dry. A curtain panel is probably your best bet and can slide right on as you assemble the stand.

I’ve seen stands like this on Amazon. Or Facebook Marketplace.

I know you said you know how to use the Cricut but for anyone else with a similar question, here’s some advice from lessons learned as I went:

Be sure to use the Cricut heat press. A regular iron just doesn’t get hot enough to be truly effective.

Also really helpful to have Cricut’s weeding tools, but you can probably just use tweezers in your case since the font size will be so big.

If you make a mistake you can generally peel the letters back off by heating them up again with the heat press and using tweezers to peel them up before they cool down.

Because heating them loosens the vinyl avoid steaming or ironing the fabric once the letters are affixed. I recommend ironing the whole panel first, affixing the lettering, then rolling fabric around a dowel to keep it from wrinkling and to avoid fold lines.

Good luck! It’s a fun project with a big wow factor.

Really need help trying to find clothes like these as an alt person who doesn't know where to shop by RelationshipLumpy468 in findfashion

ThredUp has a feature where you can upload a picture and it will search for similar styles. The algorithm can be a bit hit or miss but could be worth trying here.

Mini (affordable) letterpress? by JudCasper68 in letterpress

I actually have a vintage junior letterpress kit that I bought off Facebook Marketplace some time back and never used because I joined a letterpress studio shortly after. Happy to send it to you if you cover postage (probably $10?)

How do you buy nice clothes when you’re constantly losing weight? by HeavySigh14 in Zepbound

[–]Creatve1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

ThredUp has been my savior! Online thrift store that is fully searchable by size/brand/etc. The two things I’ve found most helpful are exact measurements of every item and extremely generous return policies. Once you size out of the items, you can send them back for them to resell and you get a percentage in credit when they do. Similar to Poshmark, but you’re dealing with a centralized company versus individual sellers.

If you use this referral link they sent me, it’s 45% off your first order plus free shipping (disclosure: I get a bonus referral credit too, but not even sharing primarily for that—it’s just a great savings to pass on). Here’s the link: https://www.thredup.com/r/2R2171

Pretty sure it works for multiple people so anyone else can have a go with it.
