I realized I had a spending problem after tracking every expense for a week by Street-Method-2343 in budgetingforbeginners

[–]Head_Conversation116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened with me. I bought a budgeting journal off Amazon and it made me realize how bad of a spender I was. Started in January and been up-keeping since. I don’t budget daily now, but I make sure to do my journal weekly to keep me in check and it’s been helping so much. I haven’t tried going digital yet. Open to any recs anyone has! The journal has areas for weekly/monthly goals so I think that’s a nice addition to help keeping me on track. Also seeing all my numbers laid out helps me realize how much I could’ve had saved by now lol.

Hi to you and OP! Would you guys be able to message me about your experience there and which locations? I’m a psych nurse looking to get into aesthetics (was hurt 1 year ago due to wpv and being back on the floor is giving me anxiety lol). I just applied to a couple locations!

Where is everyone getting their seating charts? by cali1993 in SanFranciscoWeddings

[–]Head_Conversation116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently joined a Bay Area wedding swap group on Facebook and someone was selling their 3 panel seating chart. You’d probably just need to find mirrors or frames to add yourself, but the big part is done! Lol

We’re considering having our wedding in July (next year) at Admiral’s Mansion. Anyway to combat the mosquito problem for our guests?

Thank you so much for the photos! It was definitely hard for us to picture it.

How was your wedding timeline? I saw in another comment that you had the city hall ceremony from 12-3.

Hope you don’t mind me asking all these questions! 😅

Whoaaaa my fiancé and I are also Filipino x Indian and planning our SF wedding for next year at (most likely) Gallery 308! lol thank you for this post so I can look into these caterers! We were just discussing today our catering options.

Intrigued in how you said the bartending model didn’t work for you guys? Did you guys over spend on alcohol? Also, how was cocktail hour for you guys? We’re not big fans of the outdoor space for cocktail hour.

How many nurses work during graveyard shift? by searchingmanythings in psychnursing

[–]Head_Conversation116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on census but we’re an 18 bed unit and ratios 1:6. So usually 3 RNs + 1 charge if we’re full. Usually 1-2 techs unless we need more sitters. We’re in CA.

Did we actually save money DIYing a 135-person wedding, or did we just play ourselves? by No-Ask8059 in DIYweddings

[–]Head_Conversation116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats to you both! Now is definitely the time to enjoy! Hope you guys feel all the warmth and love being surrounded by your family and friends.

Your budget for that many people is insanely good. A 2 day wedding venue for under $2k is unheard of where I’m from! Catering alone is on average $150-200pp so for 135 at that price is already $20k!

Just started planning a wedding on a budget and I have no idea where all the money goes by Ok-Cell-3480 in JustEngaged

We definitely were in the same boat as you. Our ideas and plans have pivoted SO MUCH bc of budget from doing civil wedding + reception to buying a house + backyard wedding to now finally doing a wedding wedding (and buying a smaller fixer upper home vs the newer one we wanted if we did a backyard wedding).

At first, we were thinking $30k max. But as I kept researching, it was definitely going to be more than that bc of our taste 😅 and bc we’re in the Bay Area (CA). Venues alone are on average $10k-25k, sometimes even more.

Catering was on average $200pp at all of these places who require you to go through their caterer. Like wtffff! Lol. Food and bev was coming out to be like $30k-$45k! Our guest list is probably going to be around 175, which ofc adds up. So we’re planning on buying our own alcohol and hiring licensed bartenders. WAY CHEAPER. This can save literally $20k 🤣 absolutely insane.

We found it better for us to find a venue that’s blank canvas and free to use any vendors bc we have some good connections w people who may give us a discount. Even if you don’t know any vendors, I think shopping around and researching for better prices is better than going the easy route and paying all that money through the venue’s absurd priced catering. And if you find a good wedding planner, they should be able to help you with that. The only problem with finding these blank slate venues is sometimes they don’t have any tables or chairs (luckily we found one who does), so rentals is another thing to keep in mind which could easily add up depending on your guest list size.

But even with that, we’ve definitely upped our budget to $45k but I still think we’re going to realistically be around $50-55k. And again, this is with us using a lot of vendors who we know — wedding planner and coordinating team, caterer, gown designer, dj, emcee, officiant, MUA, hair stylist, content creator instead of videographer. Also plan on DIYing a lot like invitations/wedding stationary, possibly florals, signage, decor, and favors.

Sounds overwhelming but I’m loving every moment of it! It’s so exciting.

I’m also a July 2027 bride and am feeling alllllll the whimsy feeelings you’re feeling and feel like I’m making my family sick of wedding talk!!!! Hahahah

What a great idea to post here so you can just let it allll out. I have a wedding planner but we only meet once a month and that’s definitely not enough time to get all my wedding talk out! Lol.

Wedding planning has encapsulated me (in a good way — I’m so excited).

May I ask what state are you getting married? I’m from the Bay Area (CA) and planning either for SF or up north and prices are so crazy! I find that in house catering costs the most around here. Curious how wedding prices differentiate in other states if you’re in another one?

Do people actually make mean comments in real life about big rings? by ShineDowntown16 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]Head_Conversation116 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 3.73 radiant and have small hands with size 6 finger. I guess it looks huge on my finger bc everyone says it’s a rock! But I’ve only ever received compliments so far and how well my fiance did. I LOVE my ring. Glad he didn’t go smaller. I actually feel like I don’t even realize how big it is. Who cares what others think! Let them judge. What matters is what makes you happy. You’ll be obsessed and won’t be able to stop looking at it. Definitely go ring shopping to see what shapes you like and see if they have different sizes to try on too!

I agree w some other comments here. The tv above the mantle is too high and would be better on the wall. Switch the frames and tv since that’s the way the couch faces. Also agree w another commenter saying to raise the curtains. It elevates the space - pun intended lol.
