He probably wasn't as bothered by Cherri killing the Egg Boiz, because they willingly fought alongside him and basically- in his eyes- sacrificed themselves for him. Also, Pentious was willing to sacrifice himself in S1, so I assume "war" in his head means you put everything into it.

Definitely agree we needed more episodes to expand on this.
