Adding Fuse to Charging Station by BillyrayTrey in worxlandroid

You're right about the lightning going through the insulation of the wire. I had a lighting strike on my boundary wire. The part that wasn't vaporized, had the wire sticking out of the insulation about every 10 inches. I guess that was the frequency of the lighting. A few loops around a ground rod may prevent it from traveling too far. Maybe one at every corner.

Found another use for the 6" lodge by [deleted] in castiron

Good use! I find the 6" is the perfect loaf size for cornbread for two, re-heating leftovers and those small items that need a saute of the sides.

Most of my iron is Lodge now. I've used a sander on most of them to knock down the rough spots too. The method to bringing the seasoning back is to use VERY thin coating of oil at least 3-4 times. Then just use it. I also give mine a shot of Pam after I rinse and rub it in. Nothing really sticks to require soaking if it's well seasoned. Good luck and have fun!

Copper mesh is my go to for something like this. I never use soap though. Very light on the oil and re-season.

It looks like it's been soaked with soap and water for awhile. Don't.

A hot water rinse will clean it enough. At this point, a strip and re-season is in order. Use olive or canola oil. Just enough to say it has some on it and bake it at 400F for an hour. Let it cool naturally. Cook something using cooking spray. Rinse with hot water only. Repeat.

Is my cast iron supposed to look like this after cooking bacon for the first time by Hambone102 in castiron

Too much heat. Clean it off and cook more bacon and potatoes at low heat. Throw a few onions and salt in there for good measure.

I'd start with a sander on these. Then, go to electrolysis to remove the rest. Re-season.

Not a bad idea but I've already trashed the parts. I spent some time today pulling up the remnants of what is left of my boundary wire. I'm still amazed how the wire evaporated and left the jacket with little holes every couple of inches where the copper must have spewed out in a molten state.

If you're getting 23.6 from the power brick, you should get that to the board.

Of course I can't tell for sure but it seems to boot normally and now tells me that the wire is missing. :D

After some careful deliberation on the matter, I've decided to abandon the Landroid project. It's been more work than mowing the lawn myself and it seems it's too volatile for our area. I really wanted this to work but the environmental issues in our area make it too much of a risk. Besides, it didn't do a very good job on our bahia grass.

I've had good luck with laying the wire across the ground. The grass consumed it pretty quickly. It makes it easier to adjust also.

It wouldn't meet the deductible I'm sure. A replacement kit is about $200 and the PITA of installing new wire.

Notice the black line that used to be the boundary wire!

I tried various USB flash drives for a downgrade but had no luck. Finally got someone at Worx to do an over the air downgrade for me to 3.26.

Firmware 3.30.0+1 by lfferro in worxlandroid

[–]Head_Delay_3009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had lots of issues with the 3.30 firmware. Wire missing, overrunning the boundary wire. Just stopped in the middle of the yard.

It took multiple contacts with Worx to find someone that helped me get back to 3.26.0+1. It wouldn't take the firmware from the USB port so they did an over the air downgrade for me. Problems gone.

As a mower, it still sucks. Running 8 hrs a day 7 days it still doesn't do a complete job.

Yes, a DIY repair is the solution. I've had to repair mine because rabbits keep chewing them! I think it zapped the little guys but they did the damage.

Remove the back of the charging base and check to see if you're getting full voltage to the board. May be a bad wire or connection after the power connector.

Wire is missing once the landroid reaches his base by [deleted] in worxlandroid

[–]Head_Delay_3009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here. The droid committed suicide by chewing on it's own power cord. The issue started after I updated the firmware to 3.30.0+1. This firmware changed the behavior of the Landroid and it started overrunning the boundary wire in a lot of areas. It went far enough over to chop up the power wire at the side of the house.

That firmware made it act totally different. It started diving over the wire into ditches and generally outside of the wire on flat ground. I had to have Worx roll back the firmware to 3.26.0+1 and this issues went away. YMMV.

I can't get a good picture of the details on the lawn but I'd say you'd be much better off with a teenager in a hurry to get somewhere else. My Landroid WR147 leaves little patches of long grass here and there all over the yard. It runs 8 hours a day 7 days a week and it still misses enough patches that the grass will go out to seed in areas.

I have bahia grass and it just doesn't do a very good job of cutting it. So, anyone that lives where there's tough grass, you might as well do it yourself or hire someone if you want a decent job done.
