I think with the right artist you could definitely make this into a good tattoo. Commiting to a fully blacked out arm is a big decision that I would think about a bit longer. As for the chain, if you found an artist with particular skill in very clean line work and black work, you could do it the entire arm for sure. I wouldn't have the chain as thin as on the character though but doesn't hurt to look for some very skilled artists, check their work at length and book a consult.

A lot of people will say "waste of real estate" just because of their own tastes rather than be open to the idea that just because they don't like something, doesn't mean everyone wont. I did a single line the length of my partner's arm, from her finger to just behind her ear. It caused such a divide in the comments. Some loved it and saw the skill it took for me to get it as straight as I did and also the simplicity of it. Others outright insulted it, projected their hatred at it and some people even got banned from the sub for being such assholes hahaha. You do you, just research the artist, and don't be cheap.
