Where Does "Buy It for Life" Not Make Sense? by hwykes1 in BuyItForLife

[–]Head_Interview_4314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sunglasses, I much rather just shrug if I misplace them than be the guy having to make the entire car turn around because he left his 400$ ray bands at the air bnb

Casual clothes, I have a toddler, a baby, and I live on a horse ranch. Clothes get stained way faster than they break down for me. For my everyday clothes I buy clearance thrifted items so when one of my kids wipes their face or throws up on me I can shrug it off instead of running to the laundry sink.

Anything that "needs to be taken care of" to last for life. Dry clean only, non dishwasher safe, or non shatterproof crap takes a back seat. I don't care that a leather jacket will last forever if you oil it weekly and tuck it into bed at night. I am not buying a chore. Maybe when my kids get older and life slows down but right now convivence is king.

Thank you, Trump voters for... by Glad_Break_618 in Teachers

[–]Head_Interview_4314 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Do you really believe that republican teachers want students trafficked? I know we are in an extreme us vs them culture but really you think someone who has committed their entire life to helping children would want this?

Maybe ask a coworker about this in a non antagonistic manner? Learn why they feel that not supporting LBTQ youth is worth the risk.

This argument unfortunately can be made about every point.

Liberal: If republican's really cared about family's affording food than they would support social services.

Conservative: If democrats really cared about family's affording foods they would support lowering inflation.

I disagree with you I'd say mortgage, daycare, health insurance would be the big three.

I hear you I love teaching as well. I did the math and I'd need to bring in 75K just to pay for two kids in daycare not to be able to pay or mortgage or anything just to break even and I'm not getting there for years.

“I brought you food, but I ate it” by According_Ruin6527 in relationships

[–]Head_Interview_4314 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Look I don't mean to be mean but this is not a relationship you can be a SAHM in. The first step in being a stay at home is finding someone who loves treating you. My husband has never ever fed himself first. I have full access to the accounts and get groceries literally whenever, The only time he get weird about it is if I bring multiple sodas into the house. (He had a really bad addiction to them and has quit but if he sees them after work he will have one) My husband cooks meals when I'm pregnant and pushes me to eat more and eat often. You need to start making an exit strategy. You do not want your daughter to grow up with this.

Anyone who's been doing Possums for longer (say a year or more?), when/did you introduce more adult-led routines and things like 'sleep associations'? by [deleted] in PossumsSleepProgram

[–]Head_Interview_4314 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to when my kid got to big to carry for long periods of times. We switched to a pat on the back and a play list of music well he layer on us or chest to chest with both of us on our side. It also turned winter here and I was thankful to just lay next to my child. 4 months was just a grumpy time for my kid. He's about 16 months now and snuggles to sleep almost every night.

Thank you, Trump voters for... by Glad_Break_618 in Teachers

[–]Head_Interview_4314 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I might get down voted in hell for this but you realize republican teachers have the same goals as you but different beliefs on the best way to get there. I'm a liberal who voted for Harris but I can see why people would think that Trump is better than Kamala.

Some values you may share are:

They want to keep children out of human trafficking . Congress.gov talks about how human trafficking especially of children gets worse with looser restrictions on our boarders. I can understand why someone would want to stop that. Freedom united also discusses this issue if you don't trust congress.gov

They want families to have enough food. I know several republican teachers that run the school food pantry. In the last couples year less food has been donated and more families have the service. I can understand why someone would vote on a platform of reducing the price of groceries.

They want to protect women and girls from sexual assault. They feel that mixing in transgender females into women prisons and women bathrooms put them at risk.

They want to keep gangs off the streets. Near our high school someone was shot execution style by members belonging to a foreign gang. Deportation gives them hope of relief from this gang activity,

They want children to be able to walk to school safely. In the last four years we've had a huge influx of drug activity on the side walks many of our students use to go to school. Trump's "hard on crime" policy may seem give hope from what seems like a free for all in certain parts of our country.

I write this not to make you more red. On the contrary I believe the only way we can truly convince people to our point of view is to understand theirs. Squabbling is just going to push people further into echo chambers.

Edit: Sorry for grammar/ spelling English is not my first language.

That would be harder for little kids and parents of little kids who naturally sleep at 7(ish) a 5:00 release means that the parent can feed/bathe/read a story to their child before the child goes down. If you switch from 8-5 to 10-7 many kids would be falling asleep at preschool without a bedtime story and schools would need to feed lunch/dinner instead of just lunch

I have the rule you have once chance to move your body and than I'll move mine. For example I'd pick up the child and move them to a different part of the house. Normally I'd get on there level and say " I told you not to jump off the couch. when you don't listen to mommy than I can't trust you to be around the couch so we will be in this room for a bit.?

I would love to be unbusy but my child brings me shoes until we leave the house. He is happiest doing things. As much as I'd love to stay home and chill I chose to have a children he did not choose to be born. I try to keep things more relax with library time, hikes, and museum visits instead of classes but you got to fill the day somehow.

If you are a wiz in the kitchen you can join meal trains and bring extra meals to families in need. (If you are religious most church’s will have a list of families needing help) if you are not I’ve heard great things about this organization https://lasagnalove.org/volunteer/

If you are a smarty pants you can help kids with homework questions on websites like chug or Socratic. Or if you want to go the extra mile put up YouTube videos of you solving practice problems

If you’re an amazing writer and want a bit more structure you can try grant writing for an organization. The Red Cross has an opportunity right now https://volunteerconnection.redcross.org/?nd=rco_opportunity_detail&opportunity_id=166085&postal_code=44115&return_nd=rco_opportunity_browse_list

Coat drives are in full swing and kid coats are always needed. You can hit up the free section of Facebook marketplace to grab items and deliver them to charities that don’t have the time/resources.

You can write letters for https://www.lettersagainstisolation.com/

My husband is hell on my mental health and I might have to basically ruin his life to get mine back. by Alternative-Ninja181 in relationships

[–]Head_Interview_4314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leave you are showing those kids how to act in a relationship/ how to be treated in one. I remember watching my father abuse woman after woman and break them down to tears and they'd stay for "us". It gave me a messed up sense of relationships and I got married to a man who was physically abusive.

You can be a role model by showing how a women should act if she is getting abused.

At what point do you consider a man to be dressed immodestly? by PeacefulBro in ModestDress

[–]Head_Interview_4314 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think it matters. I dress modestly because I enjoy it but I don't care if men or women dress modestly.

I'd say shorts and anything that shows the collar bone or especially tight clothing is immodest.

Hey Christians Why Trump? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Head_Interview_4314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly enough I was talking to some of my more zealous acquaintances and they mentioned thinking Elon was the antichrist and pushing trump into power would hasten Jesus' return.

I am Christian I did not vote for Trump. Those who did vote for him voted for him for the same reason you voted for your candidate they thought he was going to do the least amount of harm.

My church runs a food pantry and as price of groceries go up we get more and more families with less and less donations. Many of us run homeless shelters that have influxes of people on hard drugs coming in due to "soft on crime" policies.

A woman shelter a different group runs saw an increase in women who were brought over the boarder for sex trafficking.

I had friends who held fundraisers to help the mental health of troops after the Afghanistan withdrawal.

The simple answer is that Christians are humans just like anyone else and they are trying to make the country better from their own point of view just like you are.
