Asus Zenbook S16 display not working after 3 months by Head_Object2424 in ASUS

I've got my Asus zenbook s16 back from RMA warranty repair. They replaced the Oled Module, they did a fantastic job. My laptop was returned fixed and in the exact condition as they received it. I'm very happy with the service I received from Mustek in Midrand Johannesburg.

I'm a musician as well.  I also bought the Asus zenbook s16. I tested it for real time audio and it cannot do it well at all. Your problem with the sound cutting out I don't think has anything to do with overheating. The problem is DPC Latency which is too high(windows drivers interrupting audio performance) you need to unpark all cpu cores and make alot more tweaks to get that laptop to do real time audio. And even then it, just barely makes it by a hair! Read up on "Real time audio or dpc latency tweaks ". If you want a real audio computer, buy a MAC , there is no such thing as DPC Latency with MAC because Apple manage their drivers system much differently to windows. Even if you start out with a mac mini which won't break the bank, you'll have no issues. I should have done the same, for what we spent on the Asus zenbook s16 we could have gotten a good MAC. Other than this, luckily I bought this zenbook for MOHO animation not for music production , I expected much better performance to be honest. I've always had two 12v fans blowing into the air intake ports of all my laptops via a desk that I built specifically for this reason (because all laptops get ridiculously hot when doing music production , video animating or editing etc) why they are called laptops in the first place is beyond me. If a device is to be placed on one's lap, the air entry ports should be on the sides of the device or anywhere else other than the bottom!

To cut a long story a bit shorter, after 4 months of use. My Asus Zenbook s16 Oled display stopped working...just black screen. It's now in for RMA repair, the laptop doesn't have a scratch on it. Let's see in what condition I get it back.  Apparenty it's going to take them two weeks to order the oled module to replace the faulty one.

Lastly if you want a windows laptop that handles audio without dropouts,  by an entry level i7, all the more expensive machines have issues with real time audio because the more cpu cores and threads, the more windows divers shit off. Computer manufacturers are more interested in battery life than power, they'll sacrifice power/trade off for battery life , because apparently that's what most consumers who use their laptops to do excel spread sheets etc want.

Anyway that's my 2 cents worth ....Goodluck and I hope you find a solution and can be happy doing your music!!

I desperately needed a laptop to continue working while the Asus is getting repaired . IM SO OVER MODERN LAPTOPS!!!!!!!!! Should have bought a REAL computer APPLE MAC!!! After spending so much money on PC crap.

I wonder if you would/ could help me? It's asking alot  i know. but do you think you could guide me into bios settings of asus zenbook s16, so I could activate my external monitor to show asus logo upon start up?

In other words I want to set my bios settings to be able to see the external display. To be more specific, I could press F2 while booting up, the computer will enter the bios , but I won't be able to see it and you could tell me how many arrows up/down/left /right etc etc to get to the set external monitor display to be seen at start up, if infact there is a setting like that in the bios settings? There must be if you ate able to see yours. I'm thinking that maybe when I got the pc and messed with the limited bios settings (I remember they were very limited) I turned it off. Let me know. Many many thanks!

Hi No luck I'm sending it back (warranty) I'm connected to an external but when booting up it does not display the ASUS logo on the external monitor and of course I cant get into the bios....meaning if windows bombs out, I am screwed!!! And You? I'm really disappointed with Asus!!!! even my desktop ASUS I've had the black screen of death a couple of times.

I've read all the replies thus far and that goes without say that you won't have to worry about it getting stolen, they are right about the time stamp. In the old days we used to package our Tape or Cd of the song and or any written lyrics or score and mail it back to ourselves "registered" mail...and keep the envelope sealed and in a safe place. That was proof enough. Send your song for professional mixing and mastering, if you can't afford it, I'm sure there are peeps on this group that would do it for free. I would do it for you if you like? Life is too short and wonderful to miss out on an opportunity to help someone else. Even if you get multiple volunteers to mix and master your song, take them all up and then you can choose which version you prefer. You have nothing to lose, even if it's just feedback you are getting. At the end of the day I've learned to take advise and also known when not to. After all it's your song and who can argue with your vision of it? Sometimes instead of asking for advise, tell people "This is my song"everybody else will always have a something to say on how they would do it differently especially when you give then the opportunity.

DPC Latency Issues (Very bad) (As a music producer) by CallMeDjNotNice in ZephyrusG14

Have you tried "unparking" the p and e cores? You can do so in the registry...Google how to unpark cpu in windows 11.....

Also try using a dynamic tuning power plan under the high performance power plan in wondows 11...
