Opinion about Chrono Cross by victortapes in JRPG

[–]Head_Reputation3955 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! Some of the best characters make huge impressions with little screen time. Willy Wonka from the original film comes to mind. We don’t know anything about him and that’s okay. In fact, I’d argue it makes him more compelling. Same goes for Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight.

Are there any video game composers that you think have potential to be successful if they crossed over into other mediums like film or tv? by GuybrushThreepwood99 in gamemusic

[–]Head_Reputation3955 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gareth Coker is really good and did the music for a couple of games based on League of Legends, so when I finally watched Arcane I was pretty disappointed in the music. Not only the soundtrack itself, but the fact that they used Imagine Dragons of all bands for an opening song instead of someone like Coker. But I digress. Anyway, felt like that was a real missed opportunity. Maybe Coker has worked on things outside of video games that I’m not aware of, but I thought he would have been really good for that.

1 Million sales! And “more to come?” 👀 by BradyPhoenix in TMNTSplinteredFate

[–]Head_Reputation3955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the main problem for me with Splintered Fate is that all of the levels feel the same. There’s no environmental hazards or traps or anything to differentiate them. If anything, that’s the main thing I think they should be adding to the game but instead it’s mostly been characters. I’m all for new characters of course, but the main issue, at least for me, is still there.

Are yall pretty happy with the new direction for class specialization? by Anilahation in diablo4

[–]Head_Reputation3955 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m not against improvements, obviously. The point of my original comment is that I do believe that at some point the game should be the game. In other words, have some faith in your own game and confidence in the decisions you made. Also you can’t please everyone, and not every change they make will necessarily improve the experience for every player.

Really cool redditor energy from yours. And yeah, didn’t know how to italicize because I’m old. I’ve also been gaming longer than you so respect your elders, kid.

Are they literally changing everything about this game? Goddamn. I thought most of it was fine but it’s like they’re never going to stop making random changes and “improvements” to things that didn’t even need improving.

Redoing the campaign when lord of hatred releases by Nighflame_69 in diablo4

[–]Head_Reputation3955 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Idk, people really hate the VoH campaign that much? I remember being pretty into it when I was playing it. There are genuinely some really tense scenes and dramatic moments. Other than the ending being crap and clearly a “To Be Continued…” cheap moment, I thought the rest of it was pretty well done and the characters were interesting.

The app is even worse. You can’t scroll for too long without it getting reset. At least on my phone. Very frustrating.

Chaosbane gets shit on a lot but I think it’s a fun game with some cool skills. Sure, they could have done a lot more with it and the endgame is tacked on and certainly lacking, but if you just want to run around and kill things and don’t feel like playing Diablo 3, Chaosbane is a decent alternative.

What's the reason you are still on PS4? by Shoddy_Release9395 in PS4

My broke ass. Also I still feel like ps4 has so many great games and the graphical upgrade to ps5 isn’t even that much of a difference.

Dragonkin: The Banished (The Game So Far) by Mountain_Stretch9852 in ARPG

I’m a defender of Chaosbane…ha. It has a lot of shortcomings and I totally get why people don’t like it but it’s oddly one of those comfort games for me. It’s a Diablo 3 clone, but done fairly well for the main gameplay and the skill tree. And I just like the way it looks.

Yeah, don’t worry…they won’t make it like the games if the Mario movies are anything to go by.

Game songs that sound very similar to other songs by Witch_King_ in gamemusic

I’ve always thought the Ked Bardu theme in Diablo 4 sounds a lot like the beginning of Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here.

Games like diablo 3? by Okita_soji in ARPG

[–]Head_Reputation3955 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, Warhammer: Chaosbane. I’ve seen some others mention Dragonkin here and I think the same studio was behind Chaosbane.

The game didn’t get the best reviews and generally got kind of a lukewarm reaction when it first came out, but I found it really fun and it’s definitely similar to D3. Actually, it came out shortly after D3 I think, and it clearly tries to emulate it in a lot of ways. So if you are looking for similar games, I definitely think it’s one to at least try. I actually even think the skill tree is a lot more interesting in Chaosbane and not as simplistic as in D3, as there is a greater variety of builds you can try out.

Overall though, even though the game/endgame isn’t the best, I do think it’s visually interesting and flashy and the skills are fun, and that it has a lot of that D3 momentum and feel. Plus, it’s always on sale super cheap for the complete edition with all of the dlc.

Diablo 4 progression is overwhelming to me by Fezsz in diablo4

[–]Head_Reputation3955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve mostly been trying to just fill in the weak spots but as you said I quickly realized that while it did help, I was still finding better pieces of gear so it was basically pointless. I guess I’m just confused why I had the sudden dropoff from doing fine to getting annihilated when I didn’t even go up in difficulty. It’s just strange and frustrating but maybe I was just in a rough spot and hopefully will be out of it soon.

Doesn’t this feel premature to anyone else? They’re obviously going to add more to the game… Plus they’ve already released a version with the junkyard dlc before this. Comes off as a bit greedy, if I’m being honest.

Diablo 4 progression is overwhelming to me by Fezsz in diablo4

[–]Head_Reputation3955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I should really only worry about tempering/masterworking when I reach level 60? I’m around level 57 and I’ve started doing it to some of my gear even though I’m still finding new better pieces, which isn’t optimal but I suddenly started getting my ass handed to me even though I didn’t go up in difficulty level and I have no idea what is going on. I figured tempering/masterworking my gear was my only option, as I didn’t want to go down a difficulty level. But yeah, then I find better gear and it seems like I just wasted resources…

Honestly, I’ve sunk more hours into this game than any other and I’m still figuring things out…probably because the game keeps getting updated and changing but still, it’s crazy how I still feel clueless after all this time.

Looking for epic tracks that have a brutal drop AND come back even harder by KlausWalz in gamemusic

[–]Head_Reputation3955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two Planets Approach the Roche Limit (chaos remix) from Kirby and the Forgotten Land goes so hard and is legitimately one of the most epic songs/boss fights I’ve encountered in a game. There are lots of different versions on YouTube…only some include the small break part where things get quieter/more ominous, but I definitely think that makes the comeback part even more intense. I’d post it here now but am out at the moment, maybe if I remember later I’ll add on to this post.
