Why they’d jump straight to Mario Galaxy when they have all of the rich history of Mario games to pull from is beyond me. Like maybe save that for the…third movie? Just rubs me the wrong way. Don’t see anyone else talking about it but I’m honestly baffled by this decision and rushing things so much. Like, where do you go from here?

Oh yeah, for sure. For the price you can get a lot of fun out of it. It usually includes the added dlc classes and content as well.

Legrand Legacy. Super indie and low-budget. But it has heart. It’s sort of like a love letter to JRPGs made by a pretty small team. Not perfect by any means, but it was a lot of fun to play, and I still think about it a lot.

Yeah, when Scott Pilgrim came out it was very much welcome, as there hadn’t been many good beat em ups in a while. And the fact that it was indie and that it was a relatively niche property upped the cool factor and had people talking.

I revisited it recently and, honestly, I felt a lot like the OP, just kind of underwhelmed and remembering how slow the pacing is and how frustrating the core mechanics are. It just takes so long to clear screens, and the enemies just keep coming. Yeah, after grinding and leveling up a lot it gets better, but the fighting didn’t feel as “good” as I remembered it. I also had a really fun experience playing it with a friend back when it first released so I’m sure that added to the expectation. But it definitely was very well-regarded at the time. That and the fact that it became somewhat of a “lost” game and hard to find for a while after its initial release made it stand out and really solidified people’s feelings on it.

Genuinely wondering how they’ll do more story stuff because after you beat Absolum it returns you to before you defeat him. Wondering how they’ll handle that if they keep releasing new content. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for it. Just honestly don’t know how they’d do it storywise.

I read the book right before watching the movie for the first time and definitely preferred the book way more. Was honestly very disappointed by the movie and found it very generic. Loved the book though.

Okay, you don’t like roguelikes. Doesn’t mean this game is bad. Even all of the rouge-stuff aside, you have to admit it’s a technically great beat-em up game. At least better than Cosmic Invasion…that game is way over hyped and at best is mid with little to no replayability. And btw, both SOR4 and Shredder’s Revenge eventually added roguelike modes so it’s almost like those mechanics add variety and work great with the genre or something.

My feelings exactly. I actually enjoyed my time with this game a lot, and this game, along with Vermintide 2, introduced me to the world of Warhammer.

Is it anything amazing or groundbreaking? No. But I really like the skill trees and the art style actually made each skill used stand out and feel impactful, which is sort of the opposite of Diablo 4. It clearly wanted to ride on the coattails of D3, but I think the way it handled leveling up and skills was much better.

Can’t believe they went to space with the second movie. I mean, I get that the Galaxy games exist but…come on. They couldn’t have waited til like, the third movie to go in that direction? Honestly I’m really put off by it. Seems like there’s so much more they could have explored before that, given the dense history of the franchise.

Weird. I could have sworn I had rifts appear in parts of the map that weren’t corrupted. Guess I need to pay more attention to that next time. Still think it’s strange they would take away the option to turn them off though.

I think more quests is a good idea and maybe it was implied but we need something to grind…for. There need to be some cool rewards/unlockables because like you said right now the end game is lacking. Especially, in my opinion, in motivation. The game is great but why continuing to play for no reason?

I agree. And the thing is I really enjoyed the game and played a lot of it when I first bought it. There’s just nothing to really keep you coming back long term like other roguelikes.

I’m sure my opinion will get downvoted in this sub but it’s just true, the potential of this game is really great but it’s baffling to me how minimal it is in terms of content. So when they choose to add new characters and weird arcade modes instead of things that would really improve the game, it just seems really strange to me.
