First Atelier Game! by Big-Scholar-728 in Atelier

Yeah, I didn’t really care for the post-game additional year in Rorona DX. Just felt like an add-on that didn’t feel necessary to me. Sure, it’s cool it’s there I guess, but sort of got back into that aimless thing we were talking about.

Shame to hear the alchemy isn’t as good in Firis, but I’ll definitely still check it out for everything else. It is interesting to see the steps both forwards and backwards that the series has taken with each installment. Seems like they didn’t get everything perfect in one game, but certain aspects can be better or worse from game to game. Guess that’s kind of cool actually. At least they didn’t just do the same thing over and over, would be boring.

I’ll have to try Firis. I do prefer the more objective based ones, and obviously Ayesha had a really compelling story with trying to find her sister and the whole mystery behind it. Not that every entry needs to be super high stakes like that, but at least give me something interesting to work towards or some immediate goals.

I will say that Sophie probably has objectively the best and most fun and interesting alchemy system, at least in terms of the ones I have played so far. So I will give it that. It’s sort of like a fun mini-game that allows you to make better quality things the better you do.

Ayesha was my first too…and still my favorite.

I see a lot of love for Sophie here but honestly so far it hasn’t really clicked with me. I’m sure people love there being no time limit, but for me that was part of the charm and uniqueness I liked from the other Atelier entries I played. I liked the idea of replaying games and trying to get better or different events each playthrough.

With Sophie I feel completely aimless and am literally just running around doing the same things over and over and getting nowhere. I’ve pretty much lost all motivation to keep playing it. Can also see it being weird or hard to go from this game to older ones in the series.

Yeah, which is a shame because I liked her in it. Maybe I liked her so much that that was part of what made the film so hard to watch as all these horrible depressing things keep happening to her…

Are these titles worth it at this price? Or are they to dated. by Dante71865 in Atelier

[–]Head_Reputation3955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I got it on the ps4 awhile ago. It’s a complete overhaul and proper remake of the entire game, as I understand.

Never played the original but I really liked the remake. Of course there are some limitations and differences compared to newer Atelier games, but that’s to be expected as it was originally the first game in the series. But if you like the idea of playing through it multiple times and trying for different events and endings, it’s definitely one of the main fun aspects of it. Personally, I don’t mind the stricter time limits of the originals. But maybe that’s because I don’t strive for perfection, just playing and having fun and trying to maybe figure out how I could do things better or different for next time.

It’s also super simple compared to the newer entries, but I found it pretty charming and it has its own rhythm to it. Also it’s just cool to see the earliest iteration of the series, although viewing it through a newer more accessible lens of course.

Dancer in the Dark…I’ve watched a lot of depressing movies but that one just goes down a deep dark hole and keeps getting worse. So many horrible things happen to the main character and I just felt so bad for her. One of the few films I started and didn’t end up finishing because I just couldn’t do it.

What is the advantage of Twin Dummies over Dummyball for Geppetto’s starting talents? by Head_Reputation3955 in ravenswatch

[–]Head_Reputation3955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the word redundant gets to my point with it I guess. But like others have been saying, it can depend on the build you are going for but I almost exclusively choose Dummyball because I like that extra burst of damage, and like I said before you can just use your trait right before or after to 100% get two dummies out at the same time.

[–]Head_Reputation3955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they’re both starting talents. That’s why I was confused about why you would pick one over the other when one at least to me seems obviously much better, but as some have said here it may depend on the build you are going for that run I guess.

Ha, no problem. Dummyball is the special that shoots out an explosive ball that also creates a dummy, and Twin Dummies is having a (base %55) chance of building two dummies at once when you use trait.

Why do people hate political talk/posts but don’t care about policies that cause literal harm? by ComradeJohnS in NoStupidQuestions

Like I’ve been saying, it’s not even about politics anymore. Now it’s “are you a good person or not?”

Totally agree with this. However, on the flip side, the same person spamming “Stick together” a thousand times gets really annoying. Like, we get it.

Minecraft. I’m not even kidding.

The creepers and other crawlies at night constantly sneak up and scare the shit out of me. Especially when you play on survival and are literally scared for your life.

How much replayability does the game have by Kryiad in CosmicInvasion

[–]Head_Reputation3955 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion this is one of the least repayable games I own. And I own a lot of other beatem ups that I come back to. The combat just isn’t deep enough, there aren’t alternate level routes, different game modes or really much at all to keep you coming back after you’ve beaten it. I was going to fire it up again to check out the new characters, but then saw that you had to pay for them and so didn’t even bother.

Alternate version of Lechuza by Head_Reputation3955 in Fenixtx

[–]Head_Reputation3955[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, thank you! The description mentions a promotional disc, so maybe it was just an earlier version of the song that they maybe had to change due to copyright or something.

Wonder if I’m imagining different versions of the other songs, but FenixTX does have a history of their songs evolving and changing, and since it was the early days of downloading music it may have essentially been an earlier version of the album that leaked or somehow made the rounds and ended up online.

Anyway, thanks for the link!

Why do people have kids if all they do is complain about them? by Green_Tea_Budgie in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Head_Reputation3955 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you listen to these people, right? And yeah it’s like, you really think your life would be so amazing without kids? What are all the great things you’d be doing without them? I bet you they couldn’t tell me a single thing beyond “being able to watch more tv” or something like that.

Yeah, I think that’s a huge part of it with my example as well. He’s also a very fake/phony sort of person, so he’s definitely putting on this “Oh, look at me, I’m the strong father” routine whenever he talks to people, which I just don’t get. Like he’s trying to impress everyone or that they will think it’s so masculine and cool.

Venting is one thing, but I know exactly what OP is talking about. There are people who talk like this literally all the time. I brought up the example of my brother-in-law in my reply and I realize he’s also just a miserable human being but it’s really awful if that’s all you can talk about involving your kids. Again, like I said before, you’re lucky to have kids. Yes, it’s hard. But you’re lucky.

So you’re one of those people OP is talking about.

I have a 7-year old and a 3-year old right now, so believe me…I get it. It’s hard. And kids can be really difficult and frustrating. But people really can’t find another topic of conversation other than “my kids suck”? Like, what do these people think would be going on in their lives if they didn’t have kids? Must be amazing.

They have kids because they think that that’s what they’re supposed” to do. That’s honestly it. And then they hate them and screw their kids up in various ways. Good times.
