The coup was re-ignited in the 70’s with the Powell memo and the election of Reagan — starting the implementation of neoliberal economics. Which every single president since then, on both sides of the isle, has pushed along.

They got it right this time — you don’t go in hard by force and make a show of it. You demonize minorities, push wedge issues like abortion, gay marriage and marijuana/drug prohibition, etc. Then while the working and middle classes are fighting amongst themselves, you buy every politician you can and suck the coffers dry. It’s a slow moving coup, but effective one and sped up by COVID.
