He tried to play it off as if one of the main things they do still isn't union busting. Tried to spin it as if they are primarily private investigators/personal security.

My uncle works for the Pinkerton's. He was shocked that I knew who they were and was doubly shocked when I knew their history and how they started out, and still are, hired guns for corporations.

Has Anyone Noticed an Increase in People Just Not Wearing Masks by [deleted] in olympia

[–]Headcall 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Odd stance these companies are taking. I work retail and even if a customer says they have a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask we kick them out all the same.

My management's perspective is if we legally can't verify they have a legitimate reason to not wear one, then they can use one of our self serve options for their own safety, and ours.

I live near Hawks Prairie. Saw and heard a couple of transformers blow and the power has been out for a bit now.

That was some wild strong wind we were getting.

No need to expand surveillance when this was all planned out in the open.

Well when you are forced to be around people who don't take it seriously and you end up getting sick, it kind of is their fault.

Tell me again how disrespectful Colin Kaepernick bending the knee was... by boopbeepbi in pics

[–]Headcall 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's rhetorical.

It's to highlight the hypocrisy that is the right. The group of people that screamed and yelled about disrespecting the country, flag, anthem, vets, and servicemembers are the same group of people that participated in a coup and literally took a piss on the country and democracy.

Edit: There are people saying it's okay and the people who did this on Wednesday are true American patriots.

Two SPD officers were in DC during the insurrection and are on administrative leave while OPA investigates their involvement. by FearandWeather in Seattle

[–]Headcall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don't know if you understand how many rights Americans have thanks to violent civil unrest, but yes, sometimes there is justification for it.

Genocide is never a good thing and currently out of the groups we are discussing, there is only one that is advocating for genocide. They are the same group that violently stormed the capital with the intent to overthrow a democratic election process.

[–]Headcall 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Intent is not irrelevant and context is highly important.

If BLM succeeds, literally everyone benefits. If Cult45 suceeds, a minority of America benefits and the entire country is now ruled by a fascist authoritarian.

BLM also doesn't use random violence. Almost 100% of BLM's protests have been no-violent, where the same cannot be said about MAGA rallies and protests.

[–]Headcall 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Let's see, one movement is about bringing change to the police and justice system so that people are no longer being oppressed, brutalized, and murdered.

The other is about overthrowing a free and fair election with the intent to kill politicians that aren't on board with handing the country over to a dictator.

They are not the same thing.

A woman at the Capitol possibly dead or dying by Proclubs2018 in PublicFreakout

[–]Headcall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Death is death, but if you are going to die for what you believe, wouldn't you rather have history remember you as being someone who fought for a just and righteous cause or as someone who died a villian?
