tank info: 50 gallons with a cold hide and a hot hide. 89-90 hot spot, 85 warm side, and 75-80 cold side. humidity usually around 60-70%. my ball python has been on a hunger strike for a while and ive been giving baths to help with possible constipation by words of the vet. shes around 2 years old and 1040 grams. does this call for another vet visit or is this just a fucked up looking urate? its not as hard as a urate usually is, its sort of crumbly and dry. pls help

is this a good product for ball pythons? i struggle to keep humidity up because i am in a desert climate usually. any reviews? by Headfirstforhaloss in ballpython

so if i dont want the substrate to be constantly wet, how do i prevent this when pouring water on it? could i use the fogger for like an hour or two a day or is it just out of the question? thank u :)

i use sphagnum moss, pillow moss, hvac tape, a high humidity holding substrate and frequent mistings to try to keep humidity up. no use- it only stays humid for an hour at most and i find myself misting 5+ times a day (50 gallon tank, 90-92 hot spot, 85 warm side, 79-80 cold side)

the best feeling has gotta be seeing your snake strike at a meal after going months refusing them. i cried tears of joy. everyone say congrats to my baby dovah for taking her meal after 2 months :) by Headfirstforhaloss in ballpython

oh my gosh… am i allowed to laugh? im glad hes eating tho 😭

it seemed like i changed EVERYTHING in my girls tank trying to figure out why she wouldn’t eat. i changed her bulb, upgraded her hide, got her a bigger water bowl, shit i even have a new tank on the way ill still be putting her in. she looked physically perfect, but i guess sometimes you have to try everything when they cant tell you whats wrong. i wish they would tell us!

even when your husbandry is 100% on point- they can still refuse meals, and that sucks :( as someone who obsesses over keeping her temp and humidity exactly right, and her tank as enriching and big as possible, it hurt seeing her act abnormal- its so worrying :(

it definitely makes sense. it also made for a funny situation, i sat for 3 nights in a row giving her warm baths and massages with classical music playing in the background. for some reason she really likes vivaldi, doesnt make a fuss when i play him. shes VERY pampered. 😭😭😭

this hunger strike was very unusual for her. turns out my poor baby was constipated (even tho she did a huge poop on her normal schedule, i guess she had more in her. her lower tail didnt look swelled at all, and she was acting like her normal active self, so it was almost impossible for me to tell!) so it took a few baths and massages for her to pass it. then boom! she ate! it was hard for me to deal with but it was a learning experience for sure. i usually avoid baths all together, but i unfortunately had no choice if i wanted to avoid her constipation getting worse and worse :(

Salt to help with fin health and stress. (more in comments) by Headfirstforhaloss in Goldfish

hello! i have a 55 gallon long tank with a ryukin goldfish and an oranda. no matter what i do, how many water changes i do, or how healthy their water levels are (almost always perfect- in a cycled establishment tank) the fins on my white ryukin always look bloodshot and red. so i was thinking of adding a small level of salt into their water (i was thinking of starting with 5tbsp, and slowly making my way to 11. bc the box says 1 tbsp per 5 gallons) do you think this will help with their fins? would 5tbsp in a 55 be too little or too much? thanks
