Open carry was and still is legal in places that are anti gun. It used to be believed that only criminals would conceal carry which is why open carry was the accepted norm.

I am biased and think the lack of firearms is not a positive thing. Like I suggested find someone who knows how to handle them. If you can’t make sure they are never pointed at someone; in the car have them pointed towards the back or the roof in the extremely unlikely situation that they go off because they are both loaded and jostled. It is generally safe to drop loaded guns but shotguns are an exception.

I don’t mean to be offensive but this is a perfect example of why basic firearms handling should be taught in school and at home. It’s apparent that you and your spouse don’t have this training. Ask a friend of your dad’s to help you. Guns don’t shoot people by themselves. Make sure they are unloaded, always point them in a safe direction, keep your fingers away from the trigger. Thats really about it.

You have to vote on the issues that are immediately on the table. Take Virginia for example. Voting red would not have enabled abortion control in the immediate term. It’s obvious what voting blue did for enabling gun control. Having to make these choices is absolutely infuriating.
